When I was a kid in 1967, my parents bought me a brand new Raleigh 3-speed in the same green color as this Triumph. It was a great bike and I wish I still had it. Your restoration of this bike brought back some happy memories. You gave new life to a classic well deserving of another chapter and the chance to make some new memories for someone who will appreciate its old-school hand craftsmanship. Great work. I'd love to see you bring some more classics back to life.

@@Bikespeeds yes that's what you've got with the throwing away society. Quality isn't that important anymore. The bikes were that good that day, that it's economical not responsible anymore. But it's a pleasure to see those bikes, especially when you disassemble them. And indeed I love to watch your video. Also just normal without hand gloves. Lovely old fashioned in that way. Only than you've got feeling with the bike.

Loves these videos, I have a 1950s Raleigh ladies bicycle which I found in the 1980s at a tip and restored it with my grandfather, it was then used by gran and then my mum and has been handed back to me. I have stripped it down to the frame now, but realised I didn’t take any photos before. 😂 so these videos are great for me to remind where everything goes.

Great resto. Quick heads up at 19:00 (as you mentioned pedals being one of the few things you use torque for); for a torque reading to be correct when using a crow's foot, the crow's foot has to be 90deg to the head of the wrench, or you'll get an inaccurate reading. Great resto! Loved the hub cleaning. :)

Have to say I learned a lot from watching you work, as my knowledge of bike mechanics stretches only to the 1990s when road bikes and mountain bikes became standard across brands. Thanks for finding a more fitting saddle & preserving the dynamo lighting. What a great Resto-Job! Gratulation! Bring back new life to old bikes is for me thousend times more satisfying then all the new, modern carbon and hightech stuff. Off cause the modern bikes are also great as sporttools and impressive, but they never come close to the charme and beauty of the old, heavy, chromloaded town or touring bikes who were built to last for Generations, carry heavy loads, bags or kids wirh you, summer and winter, year in year out. I own some of this old gems and enjoy therefor this videos the most - thank you 🎉

As a teenager, I owned a Robinhood. I know the Sturmey Archer hub well. Ridden hard in all weathers, they weren't well sealed and needed to be dismantled, cleaned up, and new bearings installed periodically. They had a unique pawl sound when tooling along in 3rd gear. There was also a 3 speed derailleur version with drop bars produced.

Great video - love the ethos behind restoring this. Stumbled down this rabbit hole after picking up a Peugeot Laser 15 recently and exploring how best to get it up and running again - I’d rather clean and fix rather than outright replace original parts.

What a lovely restoration project, in fact all the good work on it makes me want to buy it with the eyes closed, cuz the simple fact that I can trust on your professional and passionate work , and the fact there are few workshops out there that can make this project happen, without blowout your Wallet, its really pleased, thanks you for this really lovely video, can't wait for the next Wednesday 😂

Amazing restoration. It was really interesting to see how that vintage stormer archer had extremely similar internals to the sram i-motion 3 that is fitted to my Mercedes Smart E-bike. I recently did a restoration on it myself by doing a full service, overhaul, battery refresh and cosmetic repairs. You guys make excellent restoration and servicing videos so keep up the good work 👍.
