Every generation of S5 forks have swung round to contact frame , Einstein quote "The height of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over yet expecting a different result"
@Mikolaj_u3 ай бұрын
Not stupidity, insanity. The quote, "Insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results," is often attributed to Albert Einstein, although there's no definitive proof that he actually said it. Worth adding that the quote, when taken literally, doesn't apply to many situations, particularly when it comes to practice and skill-building. Repetition is a key part of learning and improving in many areas, like playing the violin, sports, or mastering any skill. In those cases, doing the same thing over and over can lead to better results as you refine your technique, develop muscle memory, and improve over time.

I watched another channel recently admit they don't inspect Shimano chain sets at all; they just return them, because bike / bike mechanic forums all say that's what they do. This was in the context of that channel / shop being outraged that they had been banned from the program. Nice to hear someone say they inspect the chain sets for the "Inspection and return" program Shimano are running. To my way of thinking, this is a more professional way to approach communicating what you do, and why. Good job here. You have music which is probably unnecessary but I am pleased to note its low volume is not competing with your voice over, great to hear.
@aarondcmedia95853 ай бұрын
@@hrisdev4 you sound as amateurish as the other youtube channel I am discussing. You don't even have to say it passes. You can just say you saw no cracks / defects. Or you could just not inspect it at all and return it. But to tell the entire world you don't inspect cranks as part of the "Shimano inspect and possibly return cranks" program is silly at best. To say you don't do it because "internet forum people don't inspect them either" is literally amateur hour. In no way, shape or form are you saying "I have deemed this part safe to ride". Sounds like very lazy reasoning to me.
@LukeRichardson19813 ай бұрын
@@aarondcmedia9585 Hilarious that you're calling the other channel (I know which one you're referring to) amateur here when it's entirely Shimano that's at fault for this situation. If they had just done a complete recall for ALL of the cranks that might be affected by this, they wouldn't need to go through these inspections that don't seem to be particularly effective, and they'd fix everyone's problems immediately. But that's just Shimano being dicks, as they seem wont to do (see blacklisting another channel for refusing to not criticize their power meter, not allowing Hammerhead to communicate with DI2, etc).

Then chuckleheads like @HristoMitev123 get all uppity when someone points it out. Laughable.

Could you please explain how a chainguard rubbing against the smaller chainring can cause a bottom bracket to fail. Wouldn't the rubber just dissapear by the abrazion over time. But it is defenitly not a design error. The guard is not a structural part of the bike frame.
@ericpmoss3 ай бұрын
If the chain is that worn, do you also have some tool that checks the chainrings and cassette for wear? My limited experience is that putting a new chain on worn gears ends up wearing the new chain quickly. Or is the assumption that it's cheaper overall to sacrifice the new chain to get the rest of the life out of the cassette and chainrings? Back when cassettes were $40 instead of $400, I guess the trade-off was different (?).

Good job, I don't get the point of such a clunky rubber chainstay protector on a road bike, it's appropriate for MTBs and maybe Gravel/Cyclocross where it's also better than clear film due to more padding, but on road bikes? They aren't so prone to chain slaps, I only had sometimes dropped it when shifting to the smaller front chainring.
@MarquitoRH3 ай бұрын
My 2016 R5 with Rotor chainset had a tendency to drop the chain off the small ring (I did put a chain at her on) and then get sucked between the chain rings and damage the frame by the chainset as well as particularly the LOWER chain stay… nothing to do with chain slap. My 2018 R5 has a significant rubber chain stay protector although the chain set is Dura Ace. The inner chainring absolutely does not rub on it ….. It’s hard to believe that Cervelo designed it like this … no way Pro Teams are riding with chainrings rubbing on a chainstay protector! I imagine it’s more likely that the rubber somehow shifts in use
