As a bike industry employee of over 13 years I have had the pleasure of riding many high end carbon rigs rom all the big brands, but strangely I find the ride quality of my commuter bike which is alloy with a carbon fork, brings a smile to my face that no super-bike can do.

Please do something with seat technology. All stock bicycles seats feel like swords when you sit on them, no cushion, no padding and are merciless on the rear-end and special areas. Like sitting on a leather covered spoons. Peace

I agree but in the mean time I have a gel padded seat cushion that looks aero dynamic and stealth on my 2021 Specialized sirrus 6.0, 4.0 & 2021 cannondale quick 2...you would think by now they would of fixed the problem..

Notice common aero traits among them: creases, blades, dropped seat stays. All gorgeous and shiny. Don’t understand all the hate for showing these awesome bikes. If this was a hypercar show you wouldn’t balk at all. Quit the jealousy and appreciate that bicycle manufacturers are still pushing the envelope and trickling their R&D down to affordable levels someday. You know you’d be proud to show off one these bikes at your club so just enjoy.

Generally it's the material, carbon will cost more than aluminum (lighter and a few other advantages), type of brakes (rim, disc, and hydraulic disc) wheels (aero or non aero). And the rest of the components like chain stay, cranks etc. Geometry plays a role in the type of riding you're gunna do, more aggressive for road bikes etc
