What better way to celebrate the success of 4-time Superbike World Champion Jonathan Rea than presenting him with a custom painted Vitus ZX-1 with inspiration taken from his Championship winning Kawasaki ZX-10RR.

I’ve been a keen cyclist now for many years and have enjoyed riding bikes all over the world. Superbike Racing is so physically and mentally demanding, I use cycling as a huge part of my training program! Already the ZX1 is a superb bike but the finishing touches set this weapon aside. All the personal touches on the designs are amazing and it certainly rides as good as it looks. I’m a old Vitus 979 owner, I’m not sure why but this vid took me back to the day my shop built it up back in ‘88. My bike was super light at the time, had a first generation hollow-pin chain and Mavic 851 mech!

Sweet! Vitus has made such a huge turn around. I remember my first Vitus, back in 86, an aluminum noodle, so flexible no matter what gear, it rubbed the front derailleur of my early generation down tube shift Shimano Dura Ace 8 speed. Much has thankfully improved in bicycle design and materials as well as group-sets. Sweet build mate. Congrats on all fronts both motorcycle GP Racing and using the wonderful freeing bicycle to get there.

Road Glide Vitus bikes were massive winners in 80s! 2lbs lighter than ANY steel bikes and many teams just painted Vitus bikes to look like sponsored machines. I’ve owned several and unless you were a massive sprinter it never rubbed...just ask Sean Kelly!
