It really doesn't matter to me that he never managed to win the championship, he is one of the real MotoGP Aliens and just happened to have some bad luck with injuries and what other Aliens were on the starting grid at the same time. He raced some of the greatest, and coming second in the championship during those circumstances still put you amongst the greatest of them all. Big respect to Dani, always loved seeing him race.

The Carbon/carbon brakes on a GP machine absolutely do not work without a tremendous amount of heat in them . If Dani had been able to really work them and then do a brake test from a speed that they are designed to work he would have completely destroyed the car and bike. I’ve heard pros coming from WSBK and other racing series that use steel discs get on a GP bike and it’s almost guaranteed they will be remaking about how unbelievably powerful the brakes are, when hot. And then how completely unusable they are when cold. And the Hp number Dani said was definitely not the real number. Probably close to 300. The bikes are touching 224mph at Mugello and still pulling .

As a Superduke owner I'm amazed at how fast that Porsche is. The high bars on the Superduke do put it at a bit of a disadvantage though.
@thekamikaze7892 жыл бұрын
@Nick a bike has some traction problems in the first 20-40kph. After that the bike will pull away. Like we saw. At high speed the better aero (911 vs duke) the car will win. The gp bike winns everywhere thx to all the new tec. Maybe in a few years some of that will find its way to stock bikes but i dont think it will.
@kmfiz2 жыл бұрын
Yeah I wonder if Chris used the launch control or just managed the start and wheelies with his wrist.
@xorbe22 жыл бұрын
@Nick aero on a naked bike is not good at 100+ mph, it eats into the power violently ripping through the air flow. It's a cubic or quadratic effect, there's a reason racing spends so much resources on aero design.
@xorbe22 жыл бұрын
@Nick power to weight is for off the line, aero/hp is for top speed. power to weight has almost nothing to do with top speed. 4 wheels simply carry more total hp at speed.

The only stock roadbike that has somewhat of a chance is a H2. But even then it'll lose as it's heavier and lower powered. Maybe an H2R will stay with it, but that isnt road legal. But then again the MotoGP bike isnt aswell...

When I was a kid in the late '70s, my RD400 made about 35 HP and weighed 345 lbs., and was pretty quick for its size and day... Dani's bike weighs the same ... the math alone is horrifying for me, let alone puttering along in a straight line, let alone riding it on the edge like a god like Dani does. But great job from Chris, and beautiful beast of a 911, Matt. Thanks for doing these comparisons, very well done.

I tried the 1290 super duke, yes it is a crazy acceleration machine but since I already own a 1290 super adventure with the same torque, i wasn't too surprised (basically +30bhp due to higher revs, and a bit more low down grunt). But what did really get me was the brakes. Perfectly linear and smooth feel, immense power with light touch. One finger is enough for normal braking, 2 for the track, 3 for emergency. Loved it. Would make me buy the latest super adv if it's got the same system !
