I have to say Chris, you have to be the best, most thorough, genuine, knowledgeable real world reviewer out there. Balanced, informed, knowledgeable, asking real world questions, and answering honestly and without bias. Even funky stuff like that Harley Electric thing, you went in open minded, and gave it an honest chance and an honest review. A true credit to the biking world, and to bike journalism.

8:05 I daily my Multi all the time, and ive dropped mine on a steep mountain pass with no crash bars. I have radar. That bike is a trooper! Nothing broke and it took 5 MEN to get it back up because of how steep and narly the fall was I was shocked. My radar and cruise has worked fine since then and that was months ago. Sure he has a few scrapes but damn! Nothing broke.

I did 24000 miles on a 2018 1260s multistrada it was 100% reliable for 20000 miles but then the suspension started to sag and bottom out front and rear also started using a lot of oil. Was on extended warranty but Ducati not interested in sorting saying skyhook not serviceable very poor backup service expect to wait weeks for repairs/parts. Traded for a new 1250 gsa so far very pleased the shaft drive is a massive bonus for big miles and off road use which rarely gets mentioned.

Great video. As for Ducati my friend bought a Diavel last year. After first oil change he did some kilometers on it just to found out that he is missing 2l of oil. Now he is trying to win a battle with Ducati and get a new engine. I had 959 and around 18.000 kilometers engine started to loose oil at header parts it did not even last to first desom I was using it just for a road riding. So these two cases really make me think of buying Ducati again although I really love the looks of Italian bikes :)

I disagree. I'm replacing my Tuono V4 1100 with a 1290 SAS. I need something I can tour on, ride the mountains on, make the 8 hour trip to see family on, commute and also maybe try out some local trails and fire roads because I gave my Dad my DRZ-400S when I moved out of state. I'm not stepping down to something with 33HP from a 175HP superbike and the ONLY bike that fits the ticket is the SAS. The MultiV4 costs more than a Honda Civic, the GS is pig ugly and has no character, none of the smaller options pack the punch I'm looking for. There are plenty of lesser options in terms of displacement, cost, etc. You don't need TC/QS/etc on a Tenere or CB500X, and if you added full electronics packages to the budget options, they wouldn't be budget anymore.

Ducati are more reliable than the German and Austrian brands for quite a few years now (according to what data you can find online). I bought a Multi within a year of my brother buying a Super Tenere and Cousin buying a GSA... they've both been stranded by their bikes (drive shaft issue on the STen and MULTIPLE fuel pump failures on the GSA). I've not had any major issues with the Multi in 60,000 miles. For Big ADV Offroad however... I'd still get the GS over the Multi (OR GSA for that matter) or the Super Adventure. But I'd get a 690/701 over ANY of them for offroad ADV (and I did exactly that, my Multi doesn't do offroad anymore)... because while these big bikes CAN go offroad... they're not good at it compared to lighter bikes... weight is king.

Don’t choose a bike from “these” comparisons. Find a way to try all the bikes yourself. I just bought a 1250 GSA, but after trying other bikes, there are things I like about other bikes. Though smaller bikes are easier to handle, you’ll need the bigger bike to get you to your adventure. Will the bike cruise at 75 mph for hours, and provide enough protection from rain and buffeting winds?
