Bilal is like a Neo Soul version of Prince. I definitely hear the influence in his vocals

OMG. I’m so glad somebody said it. I didn’t want to get canceled 😂😂😂 I think in a room full of artists, D’Angelo and Bilal are the Prince to their MJ… but in that small group of artist that were considered Neo Soul if it were just D’Angelo and Bilal in the room alone, D would be the MJ and Bilal would still be Prince.

Explain plz? Idk much about Bilal, but his vocals are mishandled in this mix for sure. A decent performance, but he is so compressed and loud, it's like he's singing alone with a whisper of drums and keys (which mostly seem to be on loop despite being live lol)

As someone who heard the leaked album back in 2006, heard all these KZbin covers of “White Turns to Grey” and “Lord Dont Let It”, resonated so hard with “All For Love” years later, seeing dope live performances & guitar solos of “Gotsta Be” and “Make Me Over” in his shows, hearing that someone who likes Bilal never heard of it is why I HATE THE MUSIC “INDUSTRY” WITH A PASSION. From my understanding Bilal is somewhat complex just like many other deep conscioused artists. That typically eventually makes their work hard to consume for the masses. A perfect example of this is Bilal's last lp. Give it a listen. You'll see. Make no mistake, Bilal is ultra talented and definitely a gift to the music industry. His artistry is a reflection of his personal complexity and those that get it, get it. Those that dont, oh well 🤷
