When Tchaikovsky died, his madness had to go somewhere. I think Bill Bailey is the vessel of that madness.

What I love about Bill Bailey is his ability to explain music and music theory to non musicians in a way which they understand. Lots of other musicians find it difficult to explain music to people who don’t play instruments.

Actual, superb talent, superior understanding, AND the ability to convey knowledge in an interesting & entertaining manner. People throw around the term "treasure" for beloved, talented, intelligent people & for those who aren't as well. This man has so many admirable qualities & what ties them all together & makes them matter 10-fold is that by all accounts, he's a truly decent guy.

Just once, I'd love for Match of the Day to be opened with the lounge version that Bill does here. And then, once finished, cut to the studio where Gary Lineker is sat in a wing backed chair, wearing a smoking jacket and carpet slippers, holding a pipe, and introducing the show with a voice reminiscent of whispering Bob Harris; "Good evening, and welcome to Match of the Day. On the show this evening, we have a wide selection of football matches for your delectation, including some well executed goals and one or two tackles that may have you tutting with disappointment."

Harry Hill did a bit very similar to this hornophone bit with his own hornophone set up. Probably pre-dated this performance too, but I seriously doubt either of them was stealing from the other.
