I can't understand why so many media guys are actively trying to keep Brock Purdy from signing a contract with the 49ers. In Colin's case, it's particularly stupid: he took the 49ers to a conference championship game (got hurt during the game), to a Superbowl (in overtime against the Chiefs) and because of a great number of injuries, the 49ers don't make the playoffs the next year... and Colin pretends it's all Purdy's fault. This is pure dishonesty.

Stafford: 3,762 yards, 20 TDs, 8 Ints, 93.6 passer rating, 64.9 QBR, 16 games played. You wanna talk about who the better QB is in the division? Purdy played with third stringers and a receiving core with the worst YAC and separation rate in the whole league. Stafford was undermanned at the beginning of the year but that ended week 8. Please Colin, watch the games and bring receipts when you want to talk ball.

Brock is an outstanding quarterback, top 10-15 when he is at his best, you can win with that. But the price has to be fair. It’s pretty much been proven at this point that he is a second-half turnover machine who isn’t able to elevate the team when circumstances aren’t ideal. I wouldn’t pay $40 million or more for that. I would pay him, but that number would start with a 3, otherwise you just get into the cousins debacle all over again. They were able to support the Brock early because they weren’t paying him, but if they can’t support him, he’s not going to bring them wins. It’s pretty much proven at this point. Pay him, but don’t pay him more than $35 million annually. he’s not in that range of “special” that deserves $50 million. Otherwise, you’re crippling your team. Just a thought, obviously I don’t make the decisions in San Fran, but there’s history to look at.

If you can only support a quarterback if you're paying him less than a million, then you can't afford to pay him anything. Bottom line is this, of the top 10 paid qbs, 9 make over $50 million a year. In two years, Brock has more playoff wins than 8 of those 10. And I reject the idea that this year is a good measure of the 49ers going forward. People try to say "Brock isn't the same without his weapons." But people didn't acknowledge that the 49ers didn't go from excellent starters to good starters. They want from excellent starters to backups at running back, receiver, and offensive line. Then add the injuries and life events on defense There are only so many starters you can lose, while also hiring a bad defensive coordinator before you have no chance.

They cant stop anything or put any pressure on opposing QB. They double bosa and just pick the defense apart week after week. The shananhan offense needs a competent runner but when that runner can catch passes it takes them to another level. They had injuries to all 3 of their RB this year so they became 1 dimensional and easy to prepare for, despite that, purdy still put up very good numbers. Letting purdy go is stupid. His contract is a product of what the market has paid the position. He shouldn't be a top paid guy but he deserves a new contract based off the resume he accumulated in the league this far.

Cause you got to factor in the transfer portal and the amount of years guys play in college now. Bill takes all that knowledge with him in the draft room with his GM and they run amuck. Purdy is a mid QB who can’t win without the greatest roster around him. If you pay him top QB money, you’ll be stuck in the exact same spot as Dallas. You may win some games in the regular season and may make the playoffs occasionally, but you won’t win the big games. So I’m sure the rest of the NFC is thrilled they are going to pay him.
