It’s not a lack of talent in the secondary it’s a lack of situational awareness from the coaching staff and to some degree the players. They just have to get better at responding to the ways they’re being attacked

Lots of folks say that star WR, edge rusher, lockdown corner, or left guard is the "one piece" the Ravens need to make it to the Super Bowl. I think it is defensive consultant. Bill Bellichick is the one piece. They need to bring him in to provide Orr some adult supervision.

@@guyfromnewark I am aware. The difference is that McDonald at least had the experience of being the man with the clipboard at Michigan. It wasn't the NFL, but the experience of being the man under pressure is an important one. I am not saying that Orr is bad or needs to be replaced, but a calming hand with DC executive experience as a consigliere would go a long way toward getting him right. Belichick would be perfect at that.

@@guyfromnewark his up and downs were a bit shorter than what's going on now. and Mac's "lows" were never as low as Orr's so far IMO. Really just the Miami comeback, whereas right now we are the worst pass defense several weeks with big comebacks multiple games. Still though I do agree we should give him some more time, but its not exactly the same as Mac.

I think the issues with the Cornerback room is the fact their is no team leader. Humphrey is a proven vet who can clearly play at a high level at his position, but he is not a serious personality. He has never been that guy it’s like it’s never been in his interest to step up and be a leader in the locker room and off field. He is more worried about things outside of the game off the field. Beyond him it’s a bunch of younger and/or non stacked resume guys.

See but during the Flacco era, Harbs wasn’t obviously getting outcoached in the post season as he has been in recent years. I’d like to think having characters like Ray and Ed and Suggs around helped Harbs steer the ship. Once they left, Harbs has been in a downhill trend until Lamar saved his job in 2018.

Ever since Dean Pees, I have been more comfortable with the Ravens defense on 3rd and 1 than 3rd and 15. Anyway, this is a scheme issue. There is something about our zone schemes that make them completely useless. Constantly have 3-4 guys covering a zone with no one in it while somehow 3 receivers will be completely unzoned and wide open. When we play man, we play 8 yards off and they quick pass us to oblivion.

Our biggest weakness continues to be inability to handle momentum changing plays. Tylan Wallace causing a safety was latest example. Up 14-7 controlling game to playing like garbage for next 20 mins. Same with Tucker miss FG in Dallas, Bateman causing INT vs LV etc

How can u say Man ta Man wouldn't work cuz We finally played Man ta Man against the Bills n it worked out great for our secondary as even Marlo said himself after the game cuz we're glued to their receivers from the start which gives us time to go after the quarterback so the quick passes aren't available because we're playing tough like Ravens are known for but yet we go back to playing zone which we cannot play zone at all with the guys we have it just doesn't work cuz they wait for the receivers to catch the ball before going after them which is obviously not the way it's supposed to work!!! Play Man ta Man and stick with it !!!!!! Teams have always known when you play r Ravens you have to earn everything and always expect to get knocked around like a rag doll💪💜💯

The Ravens secondary has talent. I don’t believe in the coaching… yes it’s Zach’s first season, and so are other coaches, first season… Roquan hasn’t been good at all in coverage, which was always a weakness. There were several times Roquan lacked in getting to his spots, and as a result it was easy passes for the opposition. The corners haven’t been aggressive. Orr hasn’t done a good job of marrying the pass rush with the coverage… There is plenty of talent, and some of it is players not seeing the field. Eddie Jackson and Marcus Williams have been terrible… TERRIBLE, the LB’s have been bad in coverage. Wiggins is a rookie… Maulet, Washington, even JAD need more snaps. Sir Eddie and Marcus Williams ~ does he even have any positive plays? Is it scheme with those guys..? what happened to basic coverages and making the other team consistently beat you underneath? I don’t “feel” the defense is horrible, not even the secondary. They have room to grow and learn. Definitely not as bad as they’ve shown.
