Funny story. I was in St. Louis and walked to the store to get a bunch of beer. I was in a hurry to get back and drink it, so I made a rash decision to cut through a section of a park where I had been told that as a white guy I shouldn't go. Well I just really wanted to start drinking so I decided to cast the dice and whatever happened happened. I walked by this large gathering of black folk making bbq chicken and they all stopped talking and looked at me and I thought well shit here we go. One black dude said, ' Hey gimme one of them beers.' So I said without thinking. 'It''ll cost you a piece of that chicken cause it smells delicious.' He took a step back then said, 'Deal.' The chicken was so good I gave him 3 beers and went on my way. The crossing the street thing made me think of that.

around here, the shelters ask questions and desire an adoption fee, pretty small, $50. they want to make sure that the person adopting can really take care of the animal, because the pet will just end up back with the shelter in the best case scenario. no reason to just hand out dogs to strangers.

It ain't just pitbulls. My uncle went through the same thing with his Rottweilers. The cops were called on him over his dogs so many times, especially when his daughters were little kids. Neighbors kept crying and calling about seeing these three girls in the _clean and stocked_ yard with these two giant dogs that eventually, the cops started hanging up on those callers whenever his address came up. And the funny thing is, those dogs never got into any sort of fight. Sure, they were active and excitable, but they were rather quiet playful, like they would rather just be with you than go around barking at whatever. They were some of the sweetest dogs I ever knew, and I have always preferred cats. So yeah, I wonder if my uncle ever had the same sidewalk experience with his Rottweilers that Bill did with the pitbull, and if so, I bet he enjoyed it too.

I can’t stand people who exploit the “emotional support animal” thing for reasons other than what it’s intended for. Any animal can become an ESA with a few clicks on the internet, and so many people do that because they want to bring their untrained dog into Walmart or a plane cabin, or keep a pitbull in an apartment complex where they’re forbidden by management. It gives genuine service dogs and their owners a bad name.

Just something to keep in mind... The reason dogs/cats/animals are not free is because, if they were, people would just "adopt" all of them and, most likely, do horrible things to them... Things like eating and animal sacrifice type stuff. You pay because, if you are willing to trade money for the animal, it means that you are a bit more invested in its wellbeing... probably.

No one is saying being a stay at home mom is the easiest thing in the world, where the issue lies with many women is the refusal to accept that it’s more so a privileged position to be in. We as adults can’t just ignore the fact that you don’t have any financial burden , are not forced to leave the comforts of your home for 8-10 hours a day and have literally all of the bills, finances, car payments, mortgage ect all rely on you. The first few years of a child’s life I can understand being tough, but even once the kids go to school and dad has to go to work…..there’s only so much you can try to throw at us to pretend that you have it so tough as a unemployed adult. Rather than getting triggered just accept that you get to have an ideal privileged position to be in as an adult woman.
