Bill Cosby is the only comedian I know who does not have to swear to get his audience to laugh. His facial gestures while telling jokes is all he needs as a comedian. He's a comical genius. current comedians have to say 'mother f*cker' ( now there are clusters of stand ups)in all their routines to get a laugh. The mindsets of some people is pure debauchery. Rudy Rae Moore ,Richard Pryor and Red Foxx were exceptionally rare. Their jokes had content.

My heart is broken over what has come out about Cosby, but in 1981 my parents and siblings and I laughed like crazy at this. It was one of the first VHS tapes our family got. Those of you who are freaking out about the idea of "beatings," he uses that term to comic effect. He's talking about spankings, which in the 1960s and 70s when his kids (and I) were growing up, were not considered the big deal they are now. All of the kids I knew were disciplined that way and none of us grew up to hate our parents. Times change.

This reminds me of the MANY months of my husband driving with me in the FRONT passenger seat, and our kids in the backseat. One late afternoon while my husband was driving down the expressway, our kids AGAIN started off arguing, then as usual, they started physically fighting, and my husband started his “empty threats speech”, YET AGAIN with “Do you want me to pull this car over?”, and of course “ Do you want me to turn this car around and go back home?”. Of course the kids KNEW his “threats” were empty. I had had ENOUGH. I unbuckled my seatbelt, my husband asked me “What are you doing?”, as he was still going down the expressway, I climbed over my FRONT passenger seat, into the backseat where the kids were slugging it out, and THEN, the fight ended and there was PEACE AND QUIET😊. From then on, if I went with my husband and kids, NO arguing, NO fighting. BUT when I did not go with them, my husband would come home somewhat grumpy. One day he came back home with the kids and asked me “Why do they argue and fight when it is just them and me and they continue to ignore me?” Our youngest child spoke up and said “Because Mama means what she says, and you don’t Daddy”. wado,Ann Benson.

There was no more touching, no more moving on each other's side, hell we were barely able to breathe after that. LOL car was a 78 subaru aka a sardine can, and that was before 1 person even got in it, let alone 4. Best trip ever! Lol

Oh my, I wasn't the only one who got a beating every day/night. I remember one time my mum yelled out that dad was coming to deal with us, (due to us making noise and fighting). And as he was finding the beating weapon of choice, my sister and I started fighting over clothes (we would put layers of clothes on for extra padding). It never really softened the beatings, dad always found a way to make it hurt. I can look back and laugh now. But I can't believe how reckless we were as kids. We knew a beating was coming, but we would start another fight before the beating began. Gees, those were the 'Old-School' days.
@OneJoshFan
@OneJoshFan 9 жыл бұрын
Some of what he says is so true!! In my case it was my sister's and my behaviour in the car - we were terrible. Fought all the time. My dad's line was "Don't make me stop this car!!" We got the occasional butt whooping, but when we got older, if he had to stop the car, he made us get out and walk home. We smartened up quickly. Two miles in freezing temperatures will do that.
@DriscolDevil
@DriscolDevil 8 жыл бұрын
+OneJoshFan Because that's what a real parent does. If the kids annoy you, kick them out so they possibly freeze to death. Wonderful parenting. And I love the ending, as if you "learning to behave" justifies it. I guess that same logic could justify any hostage or kidnapping situation if it ends in Stockholm syndrome. What a sick world we live in.
@DriscolDevil
@DriscolDevil 8 жыл бұрын
iTheGeek Hey child, you have no idea what "two miles" actually is so shut up and let the adults speak. Clearly your parents didn't beat the shit out of you enough. Joking of course, but yes my mom did hit me. Didn't make me a better person. Keep your idiotic assumptions to yourself.

Nothing wrong with a little exaggeration, and Cosby does it brilliantly. I say "a little" because growing up old school like HIS kids did, OH YES...we got our behinds whipped. I'm the mom of 8 year old quadruplets, so I definitely relate to SO MUCH of this routine. I'm not emotionally scarred or in therapy because of it. THIS reminds me of real parenting and he does it in such a way that it remains hysterically funny decades later. Amazing. These people really do have brain damage LOL

Derek Steiner You don't need scientific research to know that beating a child is wrong: you fucking fart: you just need to be a human being; not a brutalized, traumatized, damaged wreck like Cosby is. The IDEA... the TACTIC! the PLOY! of making child abuse FUNNY! So everyone can laugh at how his wife beats her children... that is SICK. It is SICK. It is INHUMAN. What Cosby is selling is the OPPOSITE of EMPATHY. He is confessing to the world that HE has no parental authority iin his own household and no control or authority over his own wife and his own children. He is describing a horrible dysfunctional family situation which if it happened today would be a court case and both he and his wife would be up for charges and his children taken away from him. HE just sits there and does NOTHING. He does not discipline his children. He does not discipline his wife. He does not even involve himself in any of it. That is typical of the castrated, emasculated American father: Today! More wives are beating their husbands than husbands beating their wives! Which is a result of the kind of dysfunctional families he created and came from. Allowing someone to beat your children: without stopping them. That is a CRIME. Would you let your wife beat your children? If you answer 'yes' you are worse than this asshole is.

We need more parenting like this today. My parents whipped me out of trouble and straight to a college graduate and a career. I respect people and am polite. Guess what, so are my kids because if they mess up bad enough, I will whip them. Don't get me wrong. I don't abuse them and I don't beat them and I don't whip them for every little occasion. But when they intentionally do something that they know not to do and that they're going to be in trouble for, sometimes they'll get a whipped. I call it the rule of three. They get three licks. That's it. I don't injure them and I don't bruise them but they get the point and it works. I know I'm going to have someone respond saying research shows and yadda yadda, but that's bull. There is a difference between discipline and child abuse.

Um, yes he is phenomenal, I certainly can agree. But Bill Cosby has been a comedian for decades now, well renowed all over (maybe except you and some others). If you didn't hear, Mr. Cosby went to jail for drugging and assaulting 60 females throughout his career, which is unfortunate but.. Yeah. Anyway, he's been around.

I love Bill Cosby. And I understand everyone has their opinion and view on him from everything that has happened with him and his name. We all know this. But it is getting annoying as hell that every other comment is something about his “lacing” or “rape” I’m not stating my opinion on anything as this is not the place to do it and it’s nothing that needs to concern me or any of us. So please, just enjoy the comedy spot and appreciate it from the time it was released. If you have an issue with Bill and his comedy spots, then simply don’t watch it or just don’t click on the damn video. Let people who want to watch and enjoy it do that. I see some people watch it as a nostalgic relief. I’m not saying In anyway that I agree or disagree with any of you. There is just no reason to comment that so frequently. No issues, just saying.

I am a survivor of rape, and the fact is that if you want to bitch about him why not go somewhere that people care. If you come look at a comedy sketch that was put up years ago most likely anyone who watches this is watching it for the content. Are you so bored that you are going on KZbin randomly searching for anything put on here with bill cosby so you can say the obvious? We all know what he did, he is in prison, and this women are trying to move on with their lives. They are not watching his comedy on KZbin. You want to be an activist then I suggest you find a better platform. To be honest, focusing on the rapist doesn’t help anything. Women surviving such a horrible ordeal need to process what they have been through, have help, people who are there to let them know that the nightmares will get better, and there will be a day they wake up and their rapist isn’t the first thing they think about.

@Fire&Ice909 Oh so he wasn't a rapist when he recorded this special so now he's cool? :D What kind backwards-ass retarded logic is that? You like the show? Good for you. But don't act like he didn't do what he did just because he knows how to tell a joke. By the way the first police report against him dates back as far as 1965, so there.
