I listened to Bill Cosby so much as a kid I used to be able to quote a lot of his jokes word for word. Those were the days

All of his moral failings aside, the man was a comedic genius.
@bobdavis48482 жыл бұрын
I believe some people have also said like, "All of his comedic genius aside, he was a moral failure." Which sounds less courteous, right? Even though you used "failings" as plural with "all," and the sentence I quoted didn't? Isn't it interesting how the order of two sentence portions makes so much difference on how a sentence sounds and is perceived... I know, it's that word "aside." It messes with audiences' brains.

Nothing is funnier than life. ^ _ ^ Living in San Francisco now for the past twelve years, every time I've played tour guide to friends and family who want to see Lombard St. I will always point out, "And if you look around here you'll see flowers planted over the remains of people who have died driving down this hill."

what a comic. I can id with this story as I live in frisco... today, guys like him, red skelton and so on could never get on stage today.. no dirty words.. wonderful and dam funny.. thank you for the post and sharing.. love this..
@bobdavis48482 жыл бұрын
Yes, I thought this was clever and funny. But today and for decades there have been comedians on TV stages who haven't sworn. One thing I think a comedian is less likely or able to do today is call San Francisco "frisco." This came out when people couldn't say "hell" on TV, but Cosby did.

Saw him twice in concert. He was absolutely it when I was a kid. "I Spy", the "Fat Albert" specials on tv, "Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids", and then "The Cosby Show". (Sigh...) I'll never denounce him as the greatest story-teller of my lifetime, no matter how things turned out in the end.

I lived the first 35 years of my life in Pittsburgh, PA, USA. The hills are shorter, but just as steep. If you can properly and confidently drive everywhere in Pittsburgh, you can drive anywhere! You heel-and-toe the brake and gas before coming off the brake to give your engine some revs before releasing the clutch. That's one way of doing it, Bill.
