I was molested from the age of 6 till 12 by a uncle, much older male cousin & family friend. I didnt tell my parents till I was 21 and when I did they immediately took me to go file a case against all 3 of them and it was one of the if not the most embarrassing thing I'd ever went through. Money was offered and they were great offers but I told my parents I didnt want the money & it was not about money for me. At that time I couldn't care less if they did or didnt serve time but I said that I wanted to look them in the face & express to them that how I felt, the trauma I dealt with all those years and how it effected me know. It was the most exhilarating and therapeutic feeling. By taking money wouldn't have healed or fixed anything for me. But being able to confront them is what gave me peace in the end and I was finally was able to move on with my life.

Forty-seven years ago? We've been saying that Lala Hathaway should sue the building owners/security/insurance for her father's death (Donny Hathaway). If we are digging up old stuff and unsolved mysteries, we should definitely put our collective folklore together and go on and get paid from all of these tragedies from years past. Can we sue the gunmaker of the gun with which Marvin Gaye was shot? Can we sue the Cream of Wheat man for the grits that were thrown on Al Green if we can prove it was Cream of Wheat? @@YolandaMarant - See and the way WE feel. The times have totally changed. There was a time when we could roam all over the neighborhood and had to come in when the street lights came on, otherwise - that was for sure a huge consequence. Then suddenly, they told us that if our parents raised a hand against us, then they could get in trouble with the law - be considered unfit mothers and what not. Not because they were actually doing us harm, but because they were doing us GOOD by keeping us close, away from the drugs and all the other social ills they could not control around us. Now, should we sue the city/social workers for all the children who ended up in foster care because of these self destructive measures. Just saying, what is good for the goose is good for the gander. On THIS side of the color line, there have been a lot of injustices since 1975 and now the Cos has had to come out of his personal pocket based on a word from the other side of the color line? So you’ve never heard of a teenager sneaking off and doing something behind their parent’s back? That happens all the time and I guarantee it will happen in your household as well. I had the most strict parents in the world and I still managed to do some things without their knowledge because teenagers are willful. That doesn’t give anyone the right to harm them and if they do come forward about being harmed it doesn’t mean they’re lying about it.

His inmate number is the same as the material number that the company uses to purify the same type of mineral Cosby is sitting on top off . Let me get this straight two teen age girls hit on a grown ass man, knowing he is a celebrity. They accept dinner and his hospitality plus allow him to take them to the Playboy mansion. They get there see all the other celebrities enjoy the scenery the food, ambience and all the trappings of the place. Bill Cosby touches/gropes her. She keeps quiet about this incident through the 1980’s and 1990’s when Cosby becomes a MEGA TV star. 14 years into the 2000’s when Cosby is accused of sexual misconduct by a woman who clearly had a consensual relationship with him. (She gets paid off spends the money then on the eve of the statue of limitations running out an overzealous political upstart re-litigates a settled case.) The former teen decides suddenly that she has suffered mentally cause she let a celebrity grope her. She wasn’t distressed enough to tell her parents. She definitely wasn’t distressed enough to not brag about it to her friends. She wasn’t distressed while Bill Cosby was making millions upon millions doing commercials and his TV shows. Guaranteed Bill Cosby wasn’t the only one who groped her at the playboy mansion is she suing any of them or their estates? It happened at the Playboy mansion is she suing Hugh Hefner’s estate for failing to keep her safe from groping? Im sorry but if you can move on with your life with ease. Meaning no history of mental distress due to your teen age escapes. Then she shouldn’t have been allowed to file that case 39 years after the alleged incident. Who waits damn near 40 years to accuse someone of a sexual assault? I would believe her more if she would have gone after Cosby when she was 25 vs being 61 close to retirement age looking for a big payday. This is OJ the remix. OJ won his murder case and all they needed was anything unlawful to jail him no matter how minor. Bill Cosby didn’t have to pay Andrea Constand after he was jailed and to make an example out of him this case was litigated. First, off was she in fear of Cosby? Second, did she tell Cosby no and did she alert the host, Hefner that she didn’t feel safe? Lastly, as a minor why was she accepting liquor? What else was she accepting? Cosby was wrong for touching her but where is her responsibility in all this? She accepted the invitation to the Playboy mansion knowing Bill Cosby was a celebrity. She failed to report the incident to the police when she left there and she didn’t let her parents know. She lived her life happily ever after until she realizes that hey I can probably sue this man and get believed because others are suing him. After she pays her lawyers she won’t have much left if this suit has been dragging on for 8 years. All that just to get enough to pay your lawyers. $500,000 in California after taxes and lawyers fees she still broke.

This tells me that you were fortunate enough to have never been a victim of sexual assault and I’m glad that you never experienced it. Different people handle sexual assault in different ways. I’ve been sexually assaulted and a victim of a person’s sexual misconduct as well and I only went to the authorities on one occasion and it took me almost a year to do so. Bill Cosby becoming big may have triggered these women and the other women coming forth may have given them the courage to do so as well. Children don’t have the same mental capacity as adults so they may have been “ok” with the behavior at the time because they didn’t realize they were being taken advantage of. Funky made a good point by saying “you can’t do people wrong and tell them when to get over it” and I’ll add to that by saying when it comes to sexual assault you can’t tell a person when or how to get over it.

@@Lyric_Hyp We fully agree, which is why it is the people who have been true victims of true sexual assault to take the position of interrogators/independent historians in these court processes to genuinely understand if these people are genuine victims or just looking for a come up. If the new society that you are building in the US is going to include a "no-limit' approach to timing of WHEN a person can bring a case against someone, then we have many things that we can make cases for; the Cos is NOT the only famous person of his era to engage in sexual deviance. Of course, that doesn't make it right, but if he didn't have money, where would the recompense be in all of this? If it is about "justice", then the courts should be full with sexual abuse victims and their accused predators from 1975 up until today. Because it's about justice right? Not necessarily a payday.

Beverly Johnson has a history of accusing ALL The men she dates of r---ing her and doing the worst to her. She has been sued by two of her former ex boyfriends for defamation of characater. Plus, Johnson was a known coke head. You should google her, you'll see that her stories are off the chain crazy, so I doubt he account means much. The Cuban actress is a failed actress. She didn't start making these claims until AFTER Bill was already in the mist of his legal troubles. There are no validity to her claims, she has no evidence and I bet you a million dollars if Bill starts suing these prostitutes and filled actresses/wannabes for defamation of character, their stories will change with the quickness.

But sadly, some of their own family members felt as though keeping the family "together" and keeping the "breadwinner" in the home was more important than the emotional, physical, and mental safety of abuse victims. The "DON'T ASK, DON'T TELL" mindset has left many generations of brokenness, by the hands of those who were supposed to protect, nurture, and train us up.😕😕😕

When you take a person (especially a man…I said what I said) who is already unstable and you give them fame, power, and influence, it’s like adding fuel to the fire. Ain’t no way in hell these types of men would go get help! That “pedestal” we put them on reassures them that they are just fine and they can do whatever they want. We taught them that they could do no wrong. We can enjoy someone’s work without worshipping them. Actors and other entertainers are working when we see them. In most cases, that is a character, not the real them. Hopefully things are improving since these stories are coming out…

Um - sure, all of that is true. Does a woman deserve 500K from a person that she is accusing of a crime that allegedly happened some 47 years ago? If that is the case, I am with Funky on this, because we can dig up a WHOLE lot of crimes that have happened since 1975 and demand payment for them. Sticking to the facts, what makes her claim hold water, because if they are winning for "violations" done back 1975, certainly we should be winning from the atrocities committed since the 1600s and THESE are just written documents preserved that remain in existence today.

Many of them got nothing but abuse for coming forward, and several of them were women of colour. I hear talk of a black man being taken down, but little sympathy for the black women who were abused.
