"You just surrender to the crystal meth-head within you!" That's a deep quote right there. Says a lot about the empathy it takes to imitate how someone else views the world and portray that. It gets to the core of understanding what motivates people to do certain things in certain situations that they might not otherwise do. That makes actors capable of understanding a wide range of people (criminals, cops, firefighters, athletes, etc.) since they have to portray characters that fit certain molds and it opens up a way of thinking that might be unfamiliar.

This is so great I came back to listen again. Most aspiring upstarts won't want to listen to these hard words of reality, because their plan is to become famous on KZbin and Instagram. I'm not even joking--heard an interview just recently by some Millennial "actor" who said talent isn't that important anymore because with the Internet you can be famous anyway. And you wonder why young people today are more depressed than any generation before them.

I like you Duke most of all in "American Gigalo"...very cool role...................I'm an extra and in films and enjoy it. TO ANYONE READING THIS AND WANTS TO BE IN FILMS...listen to Duke plus, Yes..luck is #1....and looks..and that's difficult for the talented one....I have that ability to just DO IT...I don't believe in "Method"...I have my own..I JUST PUT MYSELF IN THE MOMENT....and yes, anyone's FACADE can hide their true self etc....the business IS a shredder....you can be a real beauty but that won't land you a role if you're not talented. It's a difficult business...YOU CAN'T JUST APPLY to be a crew member.......nepotism is 1st and lives largely...............THOSE GREAT JOBS are hard to get...so don't dream.......if you come here, WORK ELSEWHERE as you're try to get hired as an extra....I used to work 7 days a week. 5 at Dland, 2 in films........or 5 at Universal, 2 in films..............5 in Magic Mt, 2 in films..........and those 2 days ARE ALWAYS ON A MON-TUES ...days off..........that's it. I got to work for the AFI also and those jobs were NON PAY BUT...I ENJOYED IT.....I WORK DUE TO THE LOVE OF IT... AND IF YOU CAN'T DEAL WITH THAT...DON'T GO INTO IT....working JUST for the $$$ won't work....you'll end up regretful and frustrated........its true about 9-5ers not so happy doing their jobs.....I've never had that..I keep to films/tv....so I'm ALWAYS HAPPY

The biggest problem with show business is that most of what is produced -nowadays-is crap.
@jonathanakerele80068 жыл бұрын
Can't disagree with you there. All the remakes are totally unnecessary and it's interesting how the industry requires top notch screenwriting if you are trying to break in but then the films coming out now it's like they feel so thrown together like a group of 3-year-old kids made them. These production companies some of them need to either disappear or step up because the quality of most of the films out there is very poor.
@bellavia58 жыл бұрын
I think of the films from the 60's and 70's and compare them to today's stuff. The comedies of today are idiotic. The problem must lie in the overall degradation of the culture itself. Look at contemporary art-it's awful. No beauty.
@jonathanakerele80068 жыл бұрын
***** I would agree but you can see it in music too with the lyrics geared toward sex and drugs and not much else. There are still love songs but even those are limited to romantic love which destroys the idea of love being inclusive and makes it exclusive to a dating relationship. Not too many songs about love I can think of that deal with familial love or friendship/platonic love. No songs out there about the importance of school but then again depending on where you go that can be severely messed up too since money controls much of it and the job market can be iffy depending the field one ventures into.
