Who was spiking the punch back in the 1940's , 50's, 60's , 70's , 80's, 90's and early 2000's , with the intent of taking advantage of someone , whether it was for sex or hitting up purses and wallets ? That was a crime then , so it is now .

When you’re starting out you are too attached to your early scripts. Eventually, if you stick to it, you see your scripts like snowballs. If this one doesn’t land I’ll throw another. You get thicker skin. And that’s vital. Especially when married with a growing understanding to all the other aspects of the business. But boy oh boy, staying with it ain’t for the feint of heart.

Absolutely right. If the reader/audience is confused or left wondering why a protagonist is doing what they are doing, they won't become fully invested in the story. They'll be thinking, why doesn't the hero simply walk away. What are the stakes for the hero, externally and internally. What are the consequences if they don't succeed? I'll add one more thing - The Midway Point is the best time in your story to "Raise the stakes." Then raise them again in the third act.

The only thing that doesn't impress me about the idea of a character's coping mechanism is the "sex" part. THAT is EASY to do and THAT is why writers turn to it. They know that audiences will love the idea of someone sleeping around like crazy will keep the audience interested. EASY. The second easiest is a character just goes crazy with booze or drugs. Again, EASY. That never impresses me in a novel or film. It's just done so often that it doesn't impress me or keep me interested anymore. Very young audiences will like it very much, but that's not because it's great writing, it's just because its sex. Kinda stupid really.

I’m so tired of reboots prequels and sequels, instead of introducing something fresh and new, nowadays Hollywood would rather go the safe route with well known IPs 🤔

You can buy scripts at bookstores. Barnes & Noble sells them as well. New York City has the Drama Bookstore. Any city, like Chicago, etc. where there's a large theatre community, has bookstores which cater to that crowd.
