@@flatdomecakes4466 People like Bill Gates, Al Gore and Leonardo DiCaprio are the epitome of "do as I say, not as I do." If they can't escape their own cognitive dissonance then they shouldn't expect anyone else to.

when my Grandmother was alive she became very sick as result my mother decided to travel from Europe to Africa to assist her with some of daily tasks i was shocked to see there was no Taps anywere in that village and we had to walk miles to get her some water from far away , as result i Believe emissions problems have very little to do with Africa they have more to do with Whealty Countries where a single individual owns multiple Cars , Planes , Hellicopters and houses , as supposed to 99 % of the African population 🤔

Bill Gates himself is probably responsible for more than Africa. I dont hear anyone calling for a ban on private jets

Microsoft is a system, that allowed problematic structures of big tech companies to grow massively in the first place and I can't see any change in their strategy to this day, even the digital world and with it the need for electric power is increasing exponentially. There is no sense to follow the advice of a man who has no interest in making the most important change in his own field of expertise, which is IT. On the other hand he is buying farm land for big production companies. After all, I have my personal doubts to put trust in any of these silicon valley gurus, because time went by and technologies have been making things worse, while internet algorithms want people to convince of the opposite and cut jobs. I'd rather spend my last money on cultivating my own garden than to buy billionairs' guidebooks on the future of mankind.

Having had to read several stacks of books by environmentalists who in the 70s, 80s and 90s said that very thing: in a few years, climate catastrophe will transform from words posited in this book to inescapable doom and existential suffering for all the planet's inhabitants--unless, of course, people start listening to me and my colleagues in the environmental sciences. Good thing their doom-and-gloom forecasting proved incorrect, wildly so, to the point of being laughable. Those books today--and I'm talking about the entire section on, of and by environmentalists--are so ridiculous to read that they are better suited to be stacked in the Humor row of the library's Fiction shelves. And yet, politicians and media members still listen to these quasi-scientists. The brand of science used by forecasters like Gates here is not reliable. Not responsible. When surveying the realities in which we find ourselves today, it is painfully clear that the concerted efforts to "Save the Planet," including the "Fight against Climate Change," have brought about manifold more problems in the world than they have even begun to solve; a fact so clear, so painful, that I no longer just disagree with Gates and do-gooders like him, I hold them in contempt.

If you want to solve climate change, you will need to find enough land to grow your own food and live mortgage free. The only sustainable world is one which does not rely on fossil fuels. Therefore, all agriculture must be done without tractors, pesticides, manufactured fertilizer, etc. Therefore, most of the human population will need to become organic farmers again. You cannot count on the government to do this for you. You yourself need to find a way to reconnect to the land, to not have kids, and to reduce your necessities so that they rely on minimal fossil fuel inputs. You need to reduce your expenses enough so that you completely or nearly eliminate your need for money and therefore work. The economy is the engine of destruction of the natural world so the best thing you can do for the planet is to engage with it as little as possible by spending as little as possible. Whether you do it or the government does it for you, this is the only path that will get you to a sustainable future. For more info, see Cuba during the "Special Period," or Ladakh from the experiences of Helena Norberg-Hodge, or "Possum Living" by Dolly Freed.
