This is my aunt Helen and Uncle RoyLee's store. I just received an email from my mother. They had the motorcycle run come through this past Saturday (4/18/09) and they broke their record! They sold 1,119 hamburgers that day before NOON! All I can say is "WOW"!!!! Way to go Aunt Helen! Love you guys! ~Lisa

We stopped in the Moonshine Store last summer on a motorcycle trip and it was a wonderful little place. The atmosphere was wonderful and the people were SO nice. I was amazed at how quickly things moved along and really surprised when I saw just how many people came from long distances to eat there. The lunch line stretched all the way outside and the friendly atmosphere made the wait really enjoyable. The entire group that rode up there that day really enjoyed it. Wonderful place to go!!

The place is famous for their burgers. Although they do not add special ingredients, it is obvious to me that they use a well seasoned cook top to make the burgers. You don't need special ingredients to make a good burger when you have a great grill.

I've lived in west union most all my life and have given directions to moonshine probably half a million times. Even still today with Google maps and all it still happens, this saturday i gave directions to a group of folks on motorcycles.

Thanks for saying what needed saying, blanter1. :) As a big-city blue-stater, I spent much of my youth traveling to small towns for flea markets. One of the best burgers I came across was at a small burger stand called Armstrong Burgers in Jefferson, Wisconsin. Any of you burger afficianados ever been there?

Hi, Dan. I can only wish I did work for Bill Geist. Then I'd be able to post some of his older, classic stuff. Like the time he tried to be a Martha Stewart at xmas-time by decorating a tree with beer cans & squeeze chesse instead of ornaments & garland. He used to have the best year-in-review stories, because he did it from his overstuffed garage. (Sadly, the garage motif went away when he moved into a Manhattan apartment.)

no offense but its a grilled, unmarinated, regular run of the mill ground beef from the store with regular condiments. anyone can make it...it really is the unique atmosphere that does it. my burgers need a little bit of spice and must be flame grilled.

I've been to this place during a road trip with some friends and the burgers are pretty fucking good. They aren't anything to write home about, but still one of the better burgers I've had. (And I've had lots)

I'm sure the atmosphere is phenomenal and plays a big part in the whole experience, but how can you say meat in tube form is better than a burger from a place like bobcat bite in santa fe, NM where the burger is ground steak that they grind fresh every morning from chuck shoulder and tenders.
