Alec Berg is the man behind the scenes and deserves a lot of credit. He is a great writer that also worked on Seinfeld and Curb Your Enthusiasm.

This is a comedy series, but seriously there are so many heartfelt moments throughout the show, which i am not going to spoil it here. My mission now is to recommend this how to all my friends.
@brassholio4 жыл бұрын
For me personally I look at it the other way. It's a drama because the leads are good enough to hold up a drama series, yet the comedy is subtle and fucking hilarious without trying. It's like the most recent Fargo series. Utterly hilarious but more of a drama than a comedy.

I've seriously considered getting HBO subscription just to watch Barry on a binge.
@e.j.25785 жыл бұрын
HBO has several excellent shows that make the subscription worth it by themselves; Ballers, Silicon Valley, Game of Thrones, Westworld, Entourage, Vice Principals, the one season of The Brink (it was incredible, but they didn't renew it for a second season), Eastbound and Down, there are a few more that look intriguing but I haven't watched yet, like Rome. And if you're into war tv shows then HBO has some that really show war in a different light than other networks. The Pacific, Band of Brothers, and Generation Kill all have documentary-like aspects but are still very entertaining and engaging, while showing war for what it is to warfighters, a poisonous drug. Sometimes it's euphoric, oftentimes it's maddening, usually it's deadly.

Comedians make the best killers. I've known this for years. Audience perception and giving them a chance to oppose that perception makes it work.

I just decided to watch Barry. The name and cover art were so unattractive that it took me this long to watch it. It's really good. I imagine there are many people like me who chose not to watch it initially due to the name and cover art. I can attest to the fact that so many U.S. military vets get out and really struggle to find their identity after service. It was a struggle for me.

Tobias Valasquez 100% me. I have HBO and been skipping that face ad for the longest times till last week i accidentally read a random youtube comment somewhere that it said: after game of thrones Barry is the next thing to watch on HBO. And the only thing. Quickly watched first episode and today i binged the whole second season.

What NONE of the interviews - anywhere - mention is how this is basically a autobio of #BillHader 's life. He was damned good as a comedian on SNL - but it was destroying his mind & health. He has nearly lost the sight in his left eye due an autoimmune disorder brought about by stress. #Barry

*PLEASE* don't let the tv show become preachy... that will ruin it. There are no more good shows because they are becoming agenda driven and Barry is story/character driven which is why it's so refreshing and amazing.

@@isabella-a-a-a Yes. I would like this show to stay irreverent and not start in on the cringy moral grandstanding.
@MrStupididy5 жыл бұрын
Culley Derouin while, i think you’re making an argument in good faith, the wording can become politicized. The show is good because it shows and tells the audience just the right amount. It leaves us wondering what he has all done, as well as the way he feels currently about what has happened. He’s a real character. I think you want earnest characters that tell sincere stories rather than, a character based on the idea they want to be. In some ways barry’s girlfriend shows this in the way that she has trauma, real trauma, but she WANTS to be independent. But what makes her want independence is all the moments that she has been reduced.
@maryandchild5 жыл бұрын
@@culleyderouin7434 this show is actually extremely moral and grapples with morality on a very deep and visceral level. i feel like you... aren't watching it right if you haven't noticed that?
