I don't see your post explaining him being a false prophet/teacher. Why is it that preachers that tell the TRUTH are being called false teachers? Anyone that heals the sick in Jesus name is not false. Jesus explained this to his disciples. satan would not want to divide his kingdom by casting out demons. Usually the folks that do not go out HEALING THE SICK are the ones who criticize. The pharisees had a huge problem with Jesus' methods. Please do not fall in that category.

So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. More issues with Prof Edgar, “Nor is there a verse that specifically states they [gifts] will cease at the end of the apostolic age.” Yes, that is right! There is NO verse stating they will end. But, there are plenty of commands to walk in these gifts from Jesus to his followers. Matt 10:8, James 5:14-17, Mark 16:17-18, John 14:12, Luke 10:1, 17. In particular Mark 16:17 And these signs will accompany those who believe… (cont. on next Post)

I don't see all of that in this video. There is much error in churches that hold to the form of Godliness, but deny his power-as well. 2 Tim 3:5. I believe that we are commanded to heal the sick, etc..Matt 10:8. I grew up in a church that didn't believe that & didn't see miracles as they didn't follow the Lord's commands. When I began to pray in faith & authority, I see it happen. Not always of course, but I continue to do what Jesus told. It is not new, but what Jesus commanded to. Be blessed

Jordan Hall The Lord our God commanded us in several places in the Bible to be on the look out for false teachers and false prophets. Those false teachers and false prophets will cite scripture, and act nice, say what sounds nice, and tell you what your itching ears want to hear. The goal, of course, is to lead people astray and straight into hell, while they are deceived into thinking they are saved. (Check out my post above.) NO WHERE IN THE BIBLE DOES IT TELL US TO LOVE FALSE TEACHERS AND FALSE PROPHETS!
@jhizz939 жыл бұрын
Love your enemies right? Jesus said that? Like God loved His?
@ryangi59 жыл бұрын
+Jordan Hall The Bible is crystal clear that we should not listen to and certainly not assist false teachers. In 1st John, false teachers are called anti-Christs. Paul warns of false teachers in Galatians 5:7-12, saying in part, "Who cut in on you to keep you from obeying the truth? That kind of persuasion does not come from the one who calls you." I believe Paul is saying that false teachers are of the devil. In that same section, he says they will "pay the penalty." In Matthew Chapter 7, Jesus said, "Beware of false prophets, who come to you in sheep's clothing but inwardly are ravenous wolves." Bill Johnson comes to you in sheep's clothing, portraying himself as a teacher of God and the Bible, when what he teaches is not Biblically sound at all! Also in Chapter 7, Jesus warns that on Judgement Day, there will be many crying to Jesus, "‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?' And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’" There will be "many" on Judgment Day who believed they were Christians, many who say "'Jesus is Lord," only to find out they followed false teachers, wolves in sheep's clothing, and their false teachers lead them straight into an eternity in hell. You say we should love our enemies. There is nothing loving about not warning people that their false teachers are leading them on the broad path to Hell, while they mistakenly believe they are on the path to Heaven. There is nothing loving about watching people being mislead straight into hell and saying nothing. That would be the opposite of love. There are many places in the Bible where it warns us to watch out for false teachers, teachers who seem good, but who do not teach the true Gospel message and the true Bible. You can't ignore those many passages. And it certainly would not be a loving thing to stand silent and watch people be lead into Hell. Please read my above post.

Yeah, its a demon-slaying (Acts 10:38; 1 John 3:8) sword of the spirit (Eph 6:17; Hebrews 4:12) that we are to use. A Christian doesn't fight against people, but against demonic powers that defy God (Eph 6:12). Jesus didn't mean for his followers to fight with physical swords (Mat 26:52; John 18:11), which is weaponry of this world (2 Cor 10:4). Jesus wasn't pleased when one of his disples resorted to physical violence with physical weaponry (Matt 26:47-55; Mark 14:43-48).

Prof. Edgar-The only individuals in the New Testament who clearly possessed the miraculous gift of apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ & could perform miracles as required of an apostle (2 Cor.12:12)were the Twelve & Paul. Perhaps Barnabas & James can be included. But, James 5:13-17 says the elders could heal & the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well. Bible is clear that it is sign of an Apostle, but it is not limited to the Apostles. Prof. Edgar vs Bible I will go w/Bible-Bless
@corbinmcnabb11 жыл бұрын
I messed up my response, THINGS is actually not in original. ERGON (works) is. How do you justify excluding the miracles from the ergon that Jesus did? I would agree that proclaiming the gospel is primary, I don't see any contextual justification for eliminating the rest. The gospel is Jesus died,buried,rose from dead (I Cor 15:1-4), which Jesus had not done at Jn 14:12. Jesus DIDN'T preach it, because it hadn't happened, it can't be included in the the works he had done.

Apparently, part of my response didn't make it through. (If it did, I apologize, not wanting to spam you). How do you deal with "the works that I do, he will do also", did he forget about the healing? Sometimes, Jesus told them not to advertise, see the demoniac in Mark 5 for an exception. Jesus preached to Gospel. To how many? So how many do I have to preach to? There were a couple more points to make, which I will send separately.

Since John clearly states that Jesus did many things that aren't recorded, how can you say that miracles were rare when Jesus performed them? I have never heard of the "egoic" error. 1. Jesus is 100% man, and 100 % God. How is he not Complicated?There are things that we can not understand about him. That’s why we have FAITH. 2. In the context of that verse, he was talking to the disciples. Some scripture in the Bible is meant for a specific person or persons. In that verse, it is meant for the disciples only. 3. God’s Will for your life is important! How can you know pray about God’s will for your life. He might call you to preach, become a deacon, missionary, Sunday School teacher. Any calling of God can change your life in a instant. If God wants you to do something, you better do it. “Who hath saved us, and called [us] with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began” 2 Timothy 1:9

I am not as familiar with these folks teachings as some, and therefore can neither endorse or oppose much of what they say. However, the closest to a hospital found in the gospels is in John 5, and Jesus healed ONE person that we have record of. As far as being a "better" healer, John 14:12 seems to suggest that we should do the things he did and greater. Every attempt to explain this away always seems artificial to me.

@killajeul - He already poured out all his wrath on Jesus, Jesus came to bring love and love abundantly. John 3:17 says that Jesus came not to judge the world, but to save it, and the very next verse says that all judgment was given over to the Son - and what did he do with it? He took it all on Himself as a sin offering for the world, not counting people's sins against them. Check out Isaiah 22 - this is a picture of Jesus. All the law was put on Jesus, and it all fell when he died. Done.

John 10:37-38 Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know & understand that the Father is in me, & I in the Father. Use of the word "works" clearly showing works are miracles. It is the same Greek. So your exegesis isn't supported within the use of "works" even in Chapter 10 itself. This is not to deny sharing the Gospel. Paul warns in 2 Tim 3:5 of the powerless church of future. Is it us today?
@corbinmcnabb11 жыл бұрын
Again, I can't speak for (or against) Bethel, but when did the miracles become NEW? They were, I suppose, new (in amount and quality) with Jesus, but that was 1980 +/- years ago. As for healing everyone, there was a lame guy at the temple over 40 years old that Peter healed as he was going into the temple. Why didn't Jesus heal him? See Mark 1, vs 36-38 for an example of Jesus leaving without than healing everyone. Credit Joni Tada for pointing this out.

(Cont. from) Here Paul says that the church in Galatia is working miracles thru the Holy Spirit so commonly, that Paul uses it as proof against falling back into the law. In 1 Cor 14:1 Paul says covet the spiritual gifts, especially prophecy. This is a COMMAND that we are to seek spiritual gifts. These posts clearly prove that Prof. Edgar is not supported by the Bible. memama2 seek out the truth for yourself thru scripture & the Holy Spirit just like Paul tells the Corinthians. Be Blessed.

I read this and I couldn't get through it because it did not make sense and was all opinion. If you really read it, even didn't say that miracles were impossible he's trying to point out that believers are wrong to think that it is possible but not that it actually is impossible. More Prof Edgar “The New Testament church was not characterized by power and miracles as the charismatics assume.” Once again the scripture disproves this. Passages showing this are found in Acts, 1&2 Corinthians, 1&2 Timothy, Galatians, James to name a few. In Gal 3:5, Paul actually appeals to miracles as opposed to following the law. “So again I ask, does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you by the works of the law, or by your believing what you heard?” Cont...

Final points. Jesus went to a "hospital" once, in John 5, and healed ONE person that is recorded. Much if what Jesus did is not recorded, how can you assume that miracles were rare? Another thing that bothers me is I really don't need excuses for my deficiencies, which could fill a nice catalog. But perhaps the most important thing, you've given me NO BIBLICAL reason to limit what Jesus said. You have simply asserted things, but given no biblical reason to assume you are correct.
@1StudentOfLife12 жыл бұрын
Are you kidding me! Go back and read the nonsense you posted. Your saying it's OK for the Devil to do miracles in the name of Jesus because somehow because of an alleged healing Jesus get the glory? Are you a Mormon? believing the Devil is a spirit brother to Jesus? Then you say it is better for someone to receive some kind of healing yet you don’t address or respond to the great commission that Jesus gave all believers "go and make disciples of all the nations"
