If you were from Detroit in that era, you LOVED Laimbeer. If you were not a Piston fan, you’d absolutely HATE him. I was a Piston fan of that era, so I loved him.

I know a lot of people hated Bill Laimbeer but he was one of my favorite Pistons players along with Dennis Rodman & Isiah Thomas. That's coming from a Houston Rockets Fan. I loved the Detroit Bad Boys era.

Any team would have wanted Lambeer on their team. He was aggressive, an instigator, a leader, played his role to perfection and could really play. Maybe the opposing players didn't respect him, but certainly respected the area where he was playing "or else" .

My favourite NBA center ever. In addition to being a skilled and passionate player he was 100% REAL. Bad Boys is one of the reasons I started following the NBA and learning its history 30+ years ago

Grew up wealthy, thus no truly life altering consequences had he failed in the NBA. Yet, his grit and fearlessness stem from an absolute fear of failure, in his own words. Perfect example of not judging a book by its cover.

Whats also amazing about laimbeer personally is his family were muliti millionaires. He never had to work ever. He got drafted out of notre dame went to indiana & the pistons gm said he was do impressed on some lousy early 80s non playoff pacers team bill played hard on every posession arguing every call. The gm desperately wanted him for that. Bill was such a talent & bright guy & cut throat competitor like mj. Another thing i appreciate is bill has won liks 4 titles as an wnba coach. I saw a video of his former wnba players literally hugging him like crazy & freaking out he came to watch them. Isiah thomas said bill has " won all these titles for the nba & wnba yet nobody in the nba will hire him as any kind of coach or in the office b/c he refuses to leave that detroit pistons bad boy mentality behind he still feels we are his teeamates & wont grow out of it. " i think detroit was lucky to have him. I guess who wouldnt want someone like that having ur back. Plus i kinda love him spitting on the celtics emblem right b4 the pistons shut that annoying boston crowd up & buried the celtics. Pure winner & no way the pistond win w/o him. He was also very talented & dominated the whole back court of other teams. He also started the trend of big man nailing 3's & outside jumpers when even guards only attempted maybe 3 to 5 a night. Mj hitting 5 3's was shocking. Now thats nothing b/c mostly everyone takes 3's or are 30 ft put nailing them.

A POS, but also a soldier you want on your side. You know he will never quit, he will play dirty, he will shoot people on the back, but he will also take the bullet for you and catch you from falling. The big bro you will call when there is trouble and he always comes. Plus he was a stretch big ahead of his time

I'm with lance. Pretty sure you would want a player willing to die for his team mates. He played mind games just like any other player. Bird was great and getting into his opponents but since he is in goat contention. No one says it. I love Bird just saying. I'm pretty sure the one talking about being the hatchet. You would probably run your lane and then run into that brick wall named Bill

Dennis Rodman saved the world meeting w Karl jung Young before the President met with North Korea. The world was saved by a bad boy. Isiah Thomas saved the NBA by stopping both strikes that threatened to destroy the league. He had a relationship w David Stern as an owner and he had the respect of the players. He brought the two opposing sides to the table. The Detroit Pistons.

While i cant be a big fan of Laimbeer as i saw him do too many things that was just dirty af, i get why Detroit fans love him. Im a fan of the Washington Capitals and we got a guy, Tom Wilson, that is kinda similar in his role to Laimbeer. Hes a goon but a talented one and everyone in the NHL hates Tom. But in Washington he is loved. We absolutely love Tom Wilson. There are just certain guys that are like that and you love to have one on your team. Because they take pressure off the rest of the team by getting the focus on them and making the opposing team stop focusing on winning and start focusing on dealing with the goon. And Laimbeer is probably the ultimate goon.

Bill Laimbeer beat the shit out of Charles Barkley. Larry Bird feared him talking about he plays to injure players he injured no one. Jordan hated him these are Goats if they complain about you.
