I’m a DeSantis supporter and I can tell you he is definitely willing to cut SS and Medicare. CBO projections are showing that these two programs alone are going to bankrupt us over the next 3 decades. There will be reform with or without DeSantis. It’s just a matter of when not if. There is, of course, the tendency to believe that if you'd put one with a stronger charisma as candidate, may be he can convince more to vote for him, which in theory increases the chance you'd see what you target in terms of policy done. People in US didn't vote for Trump and his charisma, but for his messages, along with what he said he wants to do, and for many of the republicans at that point those issues were the urgent issues they wanted to see done.

Serious question for the left who do not want any changes to social security. My mom worked her whole life. My day worked his whole life. My mom gets my dad's social security as it was a higher benefit and it is around $1750/month. How is anyone expected to live on that if not for family helping. I'm not a financial expert, but my guess is that something needs to change with social security because it both doesn't provide enough money for the average person to live every month, and it will become a larger portion of the annual budget that will be unsustainable eventually.

You can see how angry she gets about DeSantis getting any compliments. He won his election by a 20 point margin, its fair to say his policies are very popular among MORE than just Republicans. If he’s so extreme on abortion why is Florida ranked 16th for abortion restrictions? And why is it in nearly every state that passed abortion laws after Roe’s overturning the same Republican governor and Republican majority legislatures were re-elected, including in, of course, Florida. Clearly their citizens are ok with these laws. And he literally just said he wouldn’t touch social security she’s referring to his past record. Biden originally opposed desegregation I don’t hear her calling him a segregationist. And social security and Medicare need to be altered SOMEHOW it’s unsustainable they are our biggest expenses by far
