always thought it was strange that Nick Berry's character and his wife moved for his career when she was a GP always a well paid career when at the time the police was the worst paid job in the world. popular with exmilitary who found it the next best thing to the forces and people who couldn't get a better paid job washing dishes. series was watchable

skygorider It was reflective of how things were at the time. Going rural was a way to climb the ladder, earning brownie points by transferring into hard to fill vacancies.

Actually, when Nick transferred to the RCMP, he moved with his Second Wife, Jo, who was a Primary School Teacher. His First Wife, Kate, died of Lukemia after giving birth to Nick's Daughter, Katie.
