At 11:56-57,,shades of Dale Earnhardt who said and I quote "It doesn't matter if they are booing or cheering, ,so long as they are making noise!". Seems as Dale might have had some reference to that from Bill M. I have a Dumas 1/8 scale 1982 AVL boat, everything matching right down to the paint codes, striping, and graphics scale. The previous owner did as absolutely as close as he could to the scale original when he built it. Modifications were slight, to the bottom of the hull, to make it handle like it should at it's scale, and be a bit more user friendly in the water, when controlled from the shore. RIP Bill. Miss you every day..

I grew up racing in the 70's and 80's racing APBA. I idolized Bill Muncey. I remember when one of his Boats was on display in my City. I still have an engine from the outboard race of champions that Bill put together at Miami marine stadium. Godspeed Bill!

I remember exactly where I was when the special report came over the TV, the first report said that he was still alive, a while later the next report came through, i will never forget

It looked like John Walters still had a hairy ride in the Pak, with that severe kiting at the end of the straight. IIRC, it was quite a bit better at the Romulus, NY race the next year (which I attended). I'd love to know the differences between the Blaster and the 82 boat, besides the fixed canard and the later cockpit.

This has been an extraordinary series, with one more to go. What a load on Dave Seefeldt, at the end, to remove life support - based seemingly on a loose, verbal, conversation. A reminder to put in legal writing your wishes. It's ok to go out the way you want, just don't put uncertainty and/or legal risk on others.

Thank you so much for doing this whole series.. I have been going to hydroplane races every year from 1970, until 2017 in Detroit.. fortunately they are coming back here this summer.. have met and talked to the always friendly Bill Muncey many times over the years.. however we did see another side of him in the pit tower in Detroit before his last race there.. the owner of the Roostertail and Bill got into a heated argument.. Miss Budweiser was at the enter gate of the pits.. with Atlas Van lines right behind them.. they opened the gate and let Budweiser in, then closed the gate again and refused to let the Atlas in, saying he was too late.. Bill went crazy angry on the Pit tower with the Roostertail owner.. it lasted about 5 minutes.. my brother and I were in shock.. a very different Bill Muncey than we had ever seen before.. 😮it ended with Bill saying 1 word from me and you are done.. and we both know what that word is don’t we??? The guy swallowed and got out his Walki talky and said “Let the Atlas in”.. being from Detroit and what year it was, my brother and I immediately came to the conclusion of what that word was.. just wanted to thank you again for an excellent series on a fantastic man
