Great advice, Bill. I'm trying to discourage the pigeons feeding on what the smaller birds discard, but feel a tad guilty as they need to eat too.

Hi, I love the pigeons. However I have to discourage the carrion crows as they seem to be causing the wood pigeons to fly into the windows. This is a pity since our crows are black with symmetrical white markings on their wings (and sometimes the tails in a nearby park.)

Hi Jim, pigeons can be a problem for some people, but you're right they need to feed to. Our Ground Feeding Haven could be of help to you if you are still having problems www.haiths.com/ground-feeding-haven/

I throw seeds on the ground every day to keep them out of the feeder.

Sadly today too many companies have jumped on the bandwagon of supplying seed for our garden friends. Hence the prices have increased so much so that it inhibits many from feeding our feathered friends. I had to stop buying birdseed a while back as the prices kept increasing year on year. A bag of wild bird seed only a few years back would cost me just over £10, now the same bag is £25. I just can't afford it anymore. 👿

Tried all sorts of bird feeders, none to date have deterred Starlings from descending in large numbers and cleaning out the feeders in minutes. Of course smaller birds don't have a chance.

If you make any more youtube videos please jack up the volume !! Your videos are extremely hard to hear on my old laptop and I suspect that has a very negative effect on the number of views and comments. I had to add them to a playlist to watch later by casting my laptop to my TV which has much better speakers. But I wonder how many people would be willing to do that. Good advice, but here is a question. Why is it, in recent years, our birds seem to have lost their taste for peanuts? Though the tits still eat the fatballs! Yet a few blocks away, my parents birds were tucking into peanutswith no problem....including GS Woodpeckers. This evening a friend said her birds in the next village refused to eat peanuts. Yet again, the birds in a car-park in a nearby forest do! This is doing my head in! Any ideas!!

Hi Sue, this can often be down to a varied choice of foods. Sunflower Hearts seem to be very popular with birds now :)

Good job feeding all the birds. Please please clean your feeders, they will carry diseases to the birds that will kill them! Also bird bath must be clean every day and all green washed off as can cause respiratory diseases. 🦉🦔
