Bill Russell lived under circumstances we cannot really, really comprehend. His motivation was as much against racism as it was his competitive spirit. It goes back to when his college team won the NCAA title, and he was the MVP of the Final Four, but the title of "California Mr Basketball" was given to some blonde guy. That was when he decided, to try to win EVERY game. And he damn near achieved it. He deserves the utmost respect.

@@12savage68 Yeah but whenever Jordan fans want to argue in the GOAT debate they always pull up 6 > 4 without context 🙄 But with Bill Russell they always want to pull up context cause it counters the 6-0 argument. Plus I literally spoke to fans who called Phil Jackson just a bum coach and was lucky to get stars to coach for. Like the f*ck? 😂 Even Shaq himself, Kobe, and Jordan, all praised Phil for his strategies and mentorship. And when they didnt listen to him they screwed up. Sometimes the success of a player in court is highly dependent on the coach's plan for that player, the plays the team practices. Unfortunately Lebron just never had a Phil Jackson level coach that wasn't a rookie. Cause even Spoelstra or Ty Lue were rookie coaches when they were with Lebron. Which is why Lebron actually became friends with Pop and had to learn to be a coach himself.

@@patrickmcphee770 you wanna talk about a pathetic league? I assume your just another typical Gen z robot and who is obsessed with the 90’s era and you probably consider it the most “dominate era” if that era was so so dominate then why the hell were the nets and the cavs offering a 50 year old wilt chamberlain a serious contract to play for them in order to clinch a playoff spot. If the 90’s was so good then why the hell was a 5’3 point guard named Muggsy Bogues running around the leauge? As far as center wise for that overrated 90’s era there was some studs like hakeem, david robinson, patrick ewing, and alonzo mourning but that’s only 4 good centers out of 30 teams people forget about bums like Chris dudley, Shawn bradley, Kevin Duckworth, Greg ostertag, dwayne schintzius, Acie Earl, Luc longeley, Rony Seikaly, and Pervis Ellison, and Todd MacCulloch I can keep going on too about that overrated 90s era

Sweet, a new video! Russell gets so much disrespect from modern fans. If something happens once, it could be a fluke, if it happens a few times, there might be something there that isn’t being addressed, if it happens ELEVEN times in a thirteen year career, EIGHT times in a row, it makes me think Red still might be the only person who knew just how good Russell was.

@@iess2006 Lol The numbers do support that. Wilt played for a few teams and didn't always have the supporting cast Russell and Kareem so what was asked of him varied depending on the coach. Still, Wilt still holds over 90 records, is the greatest rebounder and shot blocker of all-time, led the NBA in assists when his coach asked him to facilitate more, averaged 50 a game when his team needed scoring, and led the Lakers to the chip in '72 playing on one good knee after a total rupture of a patellar tendon, and outplayed Kareem in the crucial 4th quarter of their playoff series before becoming the Finals MVP. No player has ever averaged 30 ppg and over 20 rpg in a season except Wilt. Wilt averaged 30 and over 20 for his CAREER. What else you got? lol

@@jingqi9106 I could not disagree with you any more fervently. Wilt had excellent, even outstanding, supporting casts in Philadelphia and in LA. Wilt had excellent supporting casts. However, he was only rarely able to weave them into champions.
