This is the Bill Simmons I miss. We still get hints of it every now & then. But man, from 2002 until about 2016, straight HEAT.

Agreed, stopped writing as much and all his beloved teams won "too much". Might've dulled his intensity, still a great run.
@t.yop925 күн бұрын
He's a great writer but he's never been very knowledgeable about ball. His pop culture references started falling flat after the 10th time you've heard him say the same thing. My favorite thing was when he used to propose trades and ask 'which team says no?' 99% of the time it's a completely absurd trade because he overvalues the scrubs from the team he favors.

It’s amazing how much the NBA has changed in a decade. Not one mention of 3 point shooting ability of anyone in that draft. That was the last days of drafting big men just for posting up and defense. This video is a great time capsule.

Christ, Anthony Bennett. One of the worst, if not the worst #1 pick of all-time. The 2 guys people throw out previous to Bennett were Kwami Brown and Michael Olowokandi, from the 90's and 00's. Who at the very least were rotation players in the league. Both of them started for many years on quality teams. Anthony Bennett was awful from day 1 and never got any better. Atrocious pick.

It's rather amusing, Simmons mentions that the Cavs were trying to trade out of the pick, called up the Wolves for K-Love and we said no. 1 year later, Love gets traded to CLE for Anthony and other things. Why the Wolves thought a year later was the best time to move Love....I dont remember why. But if they had pulled the trigger....what could have been. Another miserable draft and a GM that had NO BUSINESS being a GM. Owners should be forced to sell their team for making too many idiotic decisions related to hiring.
