Why do people keep saying Siakam can't be the 2md best player on a title team? He WAS in 2019 already imo. Lowry had some good games and so to FVV but Siakam was the best sidekick to Kawhi if you paid attention.

"Kawhi Leonard and Pascal Siakam combined for 1,187 points this postseason, tied with Michael Jordan and Scottie Pippen for 2nd-most by a duo in a single postseason in NBA history. Only LeBron James and Dwyane Wade had more in 2012 (1,222)"
@michaelturley34578 ай бұрын
@@RonFastLowry still created more points by a significant margin factoring in assists though. And had the higher eFG%. Really I think that team was like the Mavs, they were Robin by committee, Siakam wasn’t the #2 in the way we normally mean it, he averaged 16.9 in the regular season. Lowry was the second leading ball handler. Van Fleet was the one who felt like he hit the most big shots besides Kawhi. Gasol was captain of the defense. All four of them played massive roles and I don’t think you can say any of them was clearly the second best guy and they stepped up in different series. Gasol was important vs the Bucks.
@michaelturley34578 ай бұрын
@@RonFastalso that stat is super misleading because it punishes people that breezed through the playoffs like Kobe-Shaq, Curry-Durant, Wade-LeBron, LeBron-Kyrie, all those duos averaged more combined per game in their best years
@kalu86529 ай бұрын
The key for the Pacers will be Mathurin. If he becomes an all star caliber player, that gives them a legitimate big 3. Also going to push back on Siakam not being a #2 on a championship team. Have we not seen teams win it all with a #2 like Murray, Wiggins, Middleton recently? Are you really saying Siakam, a guy who has been a #2 on a title team before, isn't on the same level as those guys? The key really is Haliburton taking a leap into the superstar tier, and he has pretty much done it this season. Only thing left for him to do is prove it in the playoffs.
@squintz21039 ай бұрын
Siakam is easily better than all of those guys even before Wiggins forgot how to play basketball and Middleton decided he could only play half the games a season and 1/3 of those games he sucks. Currently, it's not even a conversation, siakam is way better.
@rickybasel96869 ай бұрын
SIAKAM WAS already the no. 2 guy on championship team.
@mccullochmike9 ай бұрын
Let's remember that Siakam had 32 points on 14/17 shooting, 8 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 steal and 2 blocks in game 1 of the Finals vs. Golden State. He was top 3 in the team averaging 37.1 minutes. Lowry averaged 37.5 minutes while Kawhi averaged 39.1. He was their 2nd leading scorer averaging 19 points. Kawhi averaged 30.5 while Lowry averaged 15. He had a .470 shooting percentage second only to Kawhi at .490. Lowry was the guy who stirred the drink. Kawhi was the man. But I'd argue that Siakam was their #2. When you have a player with a proven track record that Siakam does, I wouldn't discount him. And he's better today than he was in 2019.

BB is criminally underrated, when Hali went out he started going 17/5/5/2 like it was nothing. He's an excellent 3rd/4th starter and like Masai said about Jakub - trading a first rounder for a starter is great value. They'll hold on to him if they don't get at least a first, but I'd imagine they would also take a project player and some seconds. Kira Lewis fit Masai's mould about underlooked or underperforming players that he mentioned in his press conference (which is well worth a watch)

Given the value of Ayton's health, it was entirely reasonable for him not to risk injury to make a game. Plus high value property is in the hills in Portland. So I think Kyrie & KD both had something to prove (namely that they could be on Steph/LeBron's level respectively) and so they decided to do it together in Brooklyn. If they think the benefits of bringing in Harden outweigh the risk of having a fantasy basketball team, maybe they sign off on that again, and maybe it works had two out of three stayed healthy in the Bucks series. The risk won out in reality and if Kyrie doesn't force his way out, KD's probably still in Brooklyn trying to make it work. I could honestly see KD on the Kawhi Spurs, not knowing that Kawhi would have to deal with being injured so often. He's been a victim of all the player movement and the inconsistency of guys who would be worthy costars (AD, Embiid, Tatum, Kawhi, PG, Kyrie). Pretty much to a man, all the guys who were still All-NBA level were inconsistent due to health or not having the offensive oomph you need to win the title. Kyrie was an EXCELLENT complement to KD on the court (Steph was, too) but.....ain't everybody that's built like LeBron. I think he saw Booker from 2019-21 and said "there's a guy who will put the ball in the hole when we need it or I can't and give his all off the court." Very few guys in the last 20 years we can say that about. Kobe, Wade, LeBron, KD, Dirk, Curry, Dame, Book, Jokic, and now SGA.
