Bill St John was a stand out bodybuilder whose legacy continues to still inspire many in the fitness community. When I was in Junior College1971-72 I joined SUPERS GYM in Westville NJ where Bill did most of his training . Bill was the most respected athletes in the gym. He became a source of inspiration for me and other aspiring lifters in the gym. His hard work lifting and his approach to training taught me a lot. His impact on me made me a better athlete understanding what it takes to build muscle and train smart. I won the JC National Championships that year in the javelin throw and received a full scholarship to Arizona State University in throwing the javelin. Bill was one of my idols back then and a New Jersey legend in the bodybuilding world.

I am the niece who had suffered a botched surgery to remove glass from the ball of my foot. I had scar tissue that locked my foot, preventing proper walking. Flexing of the foot would not happen; the foot moved like Herman Munster's. The Isotron was able to break the scar tissue and I have walked normally since. Additionally, my Uncle Bill was able to administer treatments that put an end to back spasms I had had for 2 weeks with no end in sight.

That shot of Bill's abs on or about the 1:45 mark is what has stayed in my memory since 1971.

Dear IronHistory, I've watched the full interview, please let me have a question: In Bill Starr's legendary book "The strongest shall survive" it is written that Bill St. John broke his ankle at work and Dr. Ziegler treated him so, that Bill could squat 500lbs 5 days later and had regained full mobility in his foot. Can this story be verified by Bill St. John?

Great interview, but no Al Berger stories?

Thank you. Guess not, were Bill and Al friends? It didn't come up.

@@austinartisticdental2400 I'm sure he knew him, I used to work with an ironworker in the refinery and he spoke of Burger and crew. Maybe a thread to explore if you interview St Jonn again
