Bill Stafford performing Beautiful Kahana at the 1991 Texas Steel Guitar Association Jamboree in Dallas. Bill was recording the soundtrack for My Own Private Idaho at that time and this was one of the songs that was used.

I had the distinct pleasure to meet and spend significant time with Bill in the early 90s in San Jose, CA. We had an agreement to record together but a last minute interruption prevented it. He was a mechanical engineer and had to go to Kuwait to fulfil a contract with the US Navy. After that I lost my connection to him, so sorry for that. We were slated to record the track Wonderful Tonight written by Eric Clapton. Had the studio time booked and other musicians as well. Bill played with Elvis at Sun Records and he also knew Hank Williams Sr. He had a great story of when Hank stole songs from him, especially one called "Tee-Tot"; I have a signed original recording of it. This awesome guy is a solid piece of early Americana from way back. Cheers to you my old friend!
