I can't go on any longer seeing the disappointment in my mother's face when I walk in the house blasted out of my mind. I know if I don't stop this time I will never make it back. Thank you Bill.

AMAZING! Bill (THE SCRIPT IS WRITTEN BY BILL W IN 1960 BUT THE VIDEO HERE IS HIS FRIEND BILL MCNIFF IN 1990) talks about his nightmare and how he prevailed over alcohol. I found it amazing as well when you read about this lecture and his interactions with people, HE NEVER introduced himself as; 'I'm Bill an alcoholic' nor did Dr. Bob and both wanted others not to say that if they were in the program. Bill said that those in the program, men and women, may in fact be or have been alcoholics, BUT IF YOU ARE NOT DRINKING ALCOHOL and YOU ARE IN THE PROGRAM TO CHANGE YOUR LIFE- he never wanted to hear you say; 'My name is _______ and I'm an alcoholic.' I lied to myself for years that I had a problem myself because I could go weeks, or even months without drinking, but it was a lie, when I opened that locked door in my mind that held all the pain from my daughter being sick and dying and then my brother, I WAS HELPLESS BUT NO LONGER. as the Fellowship and grief therapy gave me a second life. Open Letter To Those Struggling, I'm one of you. I've only been in AA for three weeks now but I know I'll never drink again and I'll explain how 'God' came to me- the way Bill does above when he never expected it, didn't seek it, nor thought much of his friend Eddie who did UNTIL IT HAPPENED TO HIM. Listen to BOB TALK ABOUT IT AT 43:54. iT HAPPENED TO ME AS WELL. My story on the fast forward button is that I was never a drinker in my 20's or 30's. I grew up with an abusive alcoholic adopted father and he was a mean drunk. I wish I had great stories of teen escapades, wild parties etc etc, but I don't. I also never had much interest at all as I didn't need alcohol to be happy, social, whatever your excuse is as we are all different. But many years later my daughter got sick and she left Texas to spend time with family in NYC- where we are from. She wanted to see all of her favorite places again and I wanted her to spend time with her mother's family as they all loved her. AFTER A WEEK, after a week she had visited her favorite place, the Pokemon Center, as well as the Statue of Liberty. She called me on the phone crying but she didn't get me, she left a voice message as I missed the call. at her funeral everybody was told it was an accident because the truth was too hard for many in the family to accept AND grieve. The truth was that she decided it was time to check out and she took her own life and I missed the last call she ever made. I should have gone for help years ago but I didn't. I locked away the pain of how she died, as well as missing that call and would only open that door when I was alone and drinking. I mistakenly believed that alcohol was my friend and that it would help me face the pain of how she died but it was all a lie. My brother would then be killed on a motorcycle here in Texas in 2018 and once again I had to face losing my best friend. First my daughter and now my brother. Fast forward to December 12,13,14,15 2020 and you will find me in a hospital having had surgery and staring at the ceiling at 2 am in the morning. It would soon be the two year anniversary of my brother's death. a NURSE WALKED IN AND SHE GAVE ME A MESSAGE- I WASN'T SEEKING IT- DIDN'T EXPECT IT- NEVER THOUGHT OF IT BUT SHE ASKED WHY I WAS LOOKING SO SAD. I told her about losing my daughter and brother and she looked at me with the deepest compassion in her eyes and after we talked about where she was from (She had an accent and we did a quick guessing game) she told me that without God coming into her life, she would never be here helping me because her sister gave her life to save her. That she was almost consumed by guilt and grief but she reached out for help. She then said she isn't supposed to speak like this with patients and smiled and squeezed my hand, then cleaned it off, then left. THAT WAS IT I fell asleep and the next morning when I woke up I asked for the nurse (A different one) to please being me my phone and I looked up a grief therapist and AA. I FOUND AN AMAZING GROUP AT SERENITY OF THE WOODLANDS and they get people from all over the country in the virtual meetings. Bill is right in this video lecture! If you open yourself you can feel the power of the FELLOWSHIP of AA. It's a family bonding us all together in a common goal. ONE DAY AT A TIME. AND BEFORE YOU REACH FOR THAT DRINK- REACH FOR YOUR PHONE INSTEAD.

This lame film was written by somebody totally clueless about the life of Bill Wilson. The story about Bill meeting the guy with the gun on the bus is very interesting and important piece of AA history but the writer of this film totally misrepresented Bill's Keen interest in firearms and shooting in general.
