I think initially he was going to be a Laker in 86 ?? Seemed like a logical step to end his career in Los Angeles considering his time with UCLA and being a California kinda guy. Thankfully for us he came to Boston and though it was a short ride it was a great ride ! Or great trip in Bill's case :)

I remember the 80's watching the Celtics and knew that I was watching something very special. Larry was a true phenomenon and unlike any other player ever in the history of BB. He just delivered, always doing the impossible, Larry constantly providing miracles. I've watched BB now, but I'm always totally discussed and let down in every way. No one hustles or seems to even care about the game, they stand around and watch each other shoot 3's.

Well said. Same experience here. Bird was literally a wonder to behold. Hard to describe it to those who never saw him play. He was so good, so smart, so clutch, so tough, and so fundamentally sound.
