imho, a year from now, I can see Dawn FM getting a whole lot more love. this is Abel's first album since he broke out where the singles may not have the same power on their own, but the album as a whole is a much more rewarding experience. After Hours got much of its praise for the singles, even if many of the deep cuts just couldn't match. I'm not saying this is a masterpiece, but I am waiting for its critical reappraisal down the line. that's DEFINITELY not the case for Gunna, whose music is ephemeral by design lmao

Very solid, and the only song not part of an album bomb. HM (Tie): The rest of Dawn FM. This album is amazing. No DM WOTW: DS4EVER. Screw this album. It's so boring and forgettable. Gunna brings nothing to the table, none of the songs are good, and Too Easy is 🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮. Easy contender for my worst albums of 2022 list.

3:10 I seriously doubt this will happen. The only reason Billboard does this after all the Christmas songs have faded is because the chart editors know that those songs don't last and often "unfairly" knock away current songs whose time on the charts may not have fully ended without them. With regular album bombs, they're not anywhere near as forgiving. I think all the dropouts that went recurrent will be gone for good.

I hate that most of the DawnFM tracks are undercooked and totally wastes all the production fidelity. Usually the one case when the runtimes are under 3 minutes long. The massive hits from After Hours were mostly complete songs. Blinding Lights had a soaring bridge, In Your Eyes had 2 saxophone solos and Save Your Tears had enough room to have a proper duet with Ariana Grande.

And sadly next week, there's more Gunna coming because he got a song that has a Drake feature on it released late which is probably the reason why Gunna beat the Weeknd this week (Also the song is actually gross, Drake seems about as bored as Lil Baby and Young Thug are. Gunna should be a contender for the 2022 Bad Sex in Fiction award for the line about being in this girl's gut) Next week might also get very dang weird with The Lumineers possibly landing a song on the Hot 100, Kanye West and The Game (that cover is hideous), also maybe a tonne of country as both Kane Brown and Thomas Rhett dropped new singles...Kane Brown's new single might the best of his career.

Although gunna is terrible and his album sucks, I am not disappointed it is #1. As a fan of his music from 2011-2018, Dawn FM was VERY underwhelming. He is trying to have the 80s vibe while keeping some of his older style and it isn’t working for me. The only song that really works for me is out of time.

*WOTW:* DS4EVER (Yet another boring and generic album from Gunna that puts me halfway to sleep. Except there are some songs that are full of cringeworthy lines and vulgarities like _She not a lesbian for P she turn Pesbian_ ("Pushin P") or _she ate a whole d*ck she a goblin_ ("Mop"). How people gave this album and Gunna more unneeded attention I'll never know) *HM4:* Sacrifice (If this becomes another huge hit from The Weeknd I won't complain. It's funky, futuristic, upbeat and The Weeknd kills it) *HM3:* Less Than Zero (Fitting penultimate track for "Dawn FM" about The Weeknd feeling regret for his nihlistic behavior) *HM2:* Gasoline (A minimal and upbeat synthpop banger with The Weeknd using a British accent I seemingly enjoy a lot. I'm loving the Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys influence this song has) *HM:* Here We Go.....Again (A nice and sincere slow jam that reminds me of good old 80s quiet storm R&B. It just makes me feel nostalgic for the period though I wasn't alive during the decade) *BOTW:* Out Of Time (Quite possibly the best song on "Dawn FM" thanks to the 80s city pop influences and chill atmosphere it brings. Overall, "Dawn FM" is another great album from The Weeknd with a worthwhile listening experience) *Next week:* "Eazy" by Kanye West & The Game should make a top 20 debut along with another Gunna song but with (sigh) Drake. Other possible entries could be "If I Was A Cowboy", "When I'm Gone", or "The Motto" from Bubbling Under and hopefully "Lost" by Frank Ocean can make waves as well.
