It's hilarious that Wondering Why by The Red Clay Strays always shows up around the 90-100 spots whenever it's a slow week on the charts. I wonder what the record is for the song with the lowest peak position with the highest number of weeks on the charts and if Wondering Why is a contender for that.

So, weekly reminder for you all in the United States to listen to Pink Pony Club - Chappell Roan as many times as possible during this charting week to have it get a higher peak position than 26. I checked, it’s within the Top 50, and its music video, at 30M views could definitely use more (I’ll remind myself to watch it sometime later in this tracking week (btw I don’t know exactly how tracking weeks work)). I would LOVE it for this song to make this year’s year-end list, and while it has been charting for more than 30 weeks, a peak position in the top 20 or even the top 10 would be splendid and may fully guarantee it to be on this year’s year-end list after failing to make last year’s. And with Valentine’s Day approaching in about two weeks, I feel like we can push this song enough to get it to chart higher and have it consistently stay within the top 20 at the very least. So, you know what to do: everyone living in the U.S., go listen to Pink Pony Club as many times as you can while it is still getting radio airplay, although if you feel burnt out at some point, I won’t force you. (I might’ve yapped for too much, and no hate to the other songs currently charting (aside from maybe Beautiful Things, which thankfully may appear to drop out soon), but I really, REALLY hope that Pink Pony Club gets a higher peak position and makes the year-end list for this year)

Ngl I don’t understand yours or Fantanos criticism about how Central Cee doesn’t have a unique personality. Maybe cause Band4Band and GBP which charted in the states are admittedly two singles that fall into that category and don’t have unique bars from him but there are few rappers popping in the uk or us right now that stand out as much in terms of weird bars and production. Not defending him, I don’t like him that much, but no other rappers in the mainstream would write and release lyrics as cringe as Gen Z Luv or I Will and have them actually connect with people somehow. No other rapper would be off the wall enough to release 2 seperate rap features about how he cheats, how the other person is better off and he’s an idiot. You listen to Day In The Life and Obsessed With You and you know immediately what kind of guy and persona he has. Maybe there’s some cultural difference there (not sure how, but maybe) cause I think his persona is very unique for the scene. He also made popular drill music sound much lighter and less moody, bringing in acoustic guitars and production ideas the style never had before. At the time he broke out and since, most hip hop fans don’t call him drill despite the music having a lot of the genres musical signifiers cause it was so different to what drill was. Again, I don’t think he’s that good, there’s lots to criticise, but that specific criticism which I see you bring up a lot is confusing to me.

A few things that I just want to discuss: 1. Not looking that good for both Tate McCrae & The Weeknd with their album rollouts as both lead-off singles have just completely freefalled on the radio, with the latter artist dropping the album this Friday hoping for better results and the former now pushing her third song, Sports Car, as the next single for the album in late February. 2. It's kind of ironic that Lady Gaga's "Die With A Smile" is only now packaged as one of the singles for her upcoming album Mayhem, which drops in early March. The next new single will drop in early February. Given how Disease really underperformed, she's also got to hope for better results. 3. Next week's new songs will likely just be an assortment of new singles from artists like Travis Scott, Sexyy Redd & Bruno Mars, Tate McCrae, and maybe even Zach Bryan as he just dropped a new single on Monday without any warning.

Well hey I wasn’t wrong in terms of Mac appearing here again even if it’s no “Album Bomb.” Good to see some Mac Miller on here.

1) Mac Miller was never the most mainstream artist so his second posthumous album getting a minor album bomb wasn't really surprising. It's still kinda disappointing though. Mac Miller's estate is one of the few that actually *care* about its posthumous projects! ☹️ 2) The only song from The Weeknd's upcoming sixth album that has really caught on is "Timeless". I *seriously* wonder how the album's going to do when it comes out! The only song from Dawn FM, his previous album, that made the Year-End Hot 100 was "Take My Breath". 🤔 (January 28, 2025 - 11:45 P.M.)

There's only one song i'll recommend, and it's one that's only available on spotify as a podcast and on youtube as a mv: Zen by Jennie. I don't know how to comprehend it yet, but it is insanely fantastic, dark and badass. A great unexpected pivot from Jennie, and the best K-Pop song of the year.

So....... WHO ELSE IS EXCITED FOR THE GRAMMYS NEXT WEEK?!!!! I mean, DOECHII, SABRINA, RAYE, CHAPPELL, BILLIE, CHARLI, SHAKIRA, AND TEDDY ALL BEING NOMINATED AND PERFORMING ON THE SAME NIGHT?!!!! That gets me so pumped!! Plus, my guy Trevor Noah is hosting and the Big 5 categories are stacked, so Im super excited!

At this point, I don’t know if ‘Who’ is going to end up charting for months or drop out next week. It’s having such a bizarre chart run.

Album Thoughts: The Human Fear-Franz Ferdinand I'm gonna be honest, this is my first time listening to anything Franz Ferdinand besides Take Me Out. When I heard they released a new album, I thought, "should I use this as an opportunity to get around to listening to their other songs, or is this not good enough to be my first album from them?" Then I heard the album was pretty good, and I decided to listen to it. I must say, I'm impressed. This whole album was like a fun carnival ride. I had a good time it. Even if it kinda fizzled out towards the end. I'd say my favorite songs from it are Audacious, Everydaydreamer, Build It Up, Night Or Day, and Tell Me I Should Stay. I'm glad that they kept their idea of having key changes with their songs after Take Me Out. Audacious in particular has so many of them that it might as well be a Bohemian Rhapsody style song, and it's far from an insult. Meanwhile, my least favorite songs are Hooked and Black Eyelashes. Hooked in particular has its moments, but whenever the music from the opening shows up, I remember why Mr. Krabs told me to stay away from the hooks. And they'll never be a song where I hear a baby sound effect, and I don't feel like the guy taking off his headphones meme. So yeah, as a first timer, thumbs up from me, and I should really look into these guys.

The other day, I got around to watching The Wild Robot. Here's an updated version of the Best of the Bunch and the Honorable Mention choices with the list of every 2024 number one song/movie pairing that I posted a few weeks ago. Best of the Bunch: A Bar Song (Tipsy) and The Wild Robot Honorable Mention: A Bar Song (Tipsy) and Deadpool and Wolverine Dishonorable Mention and Worst of the Bunch haven't changed. And I'm not gonna re-say what they were because they suck too much. Though it's interesting how both the movie in the best and worst pairings of that year are DreamWorks films with a fox in it. I also gave the Honorable Mention to one of those types of movies with the 2022 list. So overall, The Wild Robot was not as good of a Universal/DreamWorks book adaptation as the live-action Cat in the Hat. I also want to draw attention to how The Wild Robot and Megalopolis released on the same day. Maybe I'll update those choices again when I get around to watching Wicked.

Thank goodness the Tom MacDonald and Roseanne Barr collab failed to chart. The fact it didn’t even make the Bubbling Under gives me hope that people are finally getting sick of him. I will say that Roseanne implying she’s better than Eminem was extremely laughable remark.

I think ‘Messy’ has serious Top 10 potential for Lola Young. It appears to be gaining fast in every metric. Elsewhere, it’s good to see ‘The Largest’ take a considerable jump to reach a new peak. This is how flexing should be done and I’d love to see BigXThaPlug have a big year ahead of him! 😊

Amazing to see ‘Push 2 Start’ debut and give Tyla her second Hot 100 entry! I love her charisma throughout the song and her vocals are stunning, especially over that R&B and amapiano groove. Easily the highlight of the week and I really hope this will go on to become another hit for her! ❤
