BOTW: 28 - Let me just say, this was probably the most DIFFICULT week to do these rankings. We'll just say the best are interchangeable from each other. HM: American Nights - Same thing as 28, just a little weaker imo DM: Lithonia - I'm sorry, but the vocals on that first verse caught me off guard in not the best way. Not bad, just not special. WOTW: Tough - This isn't terrible, but it's so strange in ways I wouldn't expect. Lana Del Rey does not fit at all with a trap beat, and because of how compressed the vocals are, she doesn't have any real chemistry with Quavo. Next week, Eminem album bomb. I have some thoughts on "Woman's World" by Katy Perry in both the song and discourse: I don't think Katy Perry was expecting the amount of backlash she was gonna face for her big return. From getting hate on social media for working with Dr. Luke (others work with him too. You know this, right?), not to mention the snippets getting hated on, then the song is released. I think it's just a standard feminine anthem with a decent Disco groove and catchy hook, but it's nowhere near special for a big return, and the midlife crisis music video didn't help. Now Katy has her first music video with more dislike than likes. Now Kesha's new song is getting hyped because of the Dr. Luke situation. I've never seen such universal backlash for an only mid song. Just... wow

I can't help but feel bad for her, and this is coming from someone who doesn't like the song.

@GraysonHVA I mean, Katy Perry made questionable choices, and the song should've been way better, but considering what Nicki Minaj or Kanye West have been doing, is she really that bad?
@MissAlmostFine6 ай бұрын
@@jchmusic7587 Well Nicki and Kanye have locked in, almost cultish hardcore fanbases. They don't necessarily need the general public to like the bullshit they do because their stans will support well enough regardless. Despite her huge success in the 2010s, Katy doesn't have that and her last projects severely underperforming already proved it. The song being bad doesn't help.

So last weekend, I, an adult, watched the Kids Choice Awards because it's the most important award show, and not because of a mixture of expectation of good ironic value and stockholm syndrome. Even if I didn't see most of it live because I was on vacation to ....the state with Ron DeSantis and the Don't Say Gay bill? What was I thinking? Did "SpongeBob and Patrick" host because of a way to celebrate the show's 25th anniversary, or because they couldn't find anyone willing to host? (Turns off "Kids Choice Awards = Amazing" switch.) In all seriousness, maybe it's the stockholm syndrome talking, but it was fine. Nothing extraordinary, but it was kinda cute. I might've even unironically had a better time with it than the Oscars. While the KCAs didn't have the heights as the Oscars, it did have some advantages like how it was shorter, and C tier SpongeBob's humor is still better than Jimmy Kimmel's. The thing about them is that I always go into them nowadays, expecting a trainwreck with tons of ironic value, but the show itself ends up being surprisingly tolerable. During Jack Black's acceptence speech, I thought for a second he said "bitches bitches bitches." Once again, since this is a music channel, here's my thoughts on the big music part. The Favorite Song/Music Collaboration/Viral Song Winners: Congratulations to Barbellujah, Barbie World, and Espresso on becomming the greatest, most important, and Chaddest songs of January 2023-May 2024. Just like how Barbie, Across the Spider-Verse, and Good Burger 2 are when it comes to the movies. The other songs/movies nominated in those categories are all still masterpieces, but those six are god level. (Turns off "Kids Choice Awards = Amazing" switch.) Oh, you want real thoughts on these winning? You think something winning here genuinely matters as much as other award shows. Then again, the idea that kids liked Across the Spider-Verse more than any other 2023 animated movie does give hope for the future of humanity. Finally, an award show labeled my favorite movie of the decade so far as "the best animated movie of 2023" after I complained about the Oscars not doing that. I was originally gonna say don't be surprised if next year, I don't update the song ranking, and instead update the one for the movies by how KCA bait they are, considering that there's a chance that they'll nominate no songs I listened to next year, but I ended up listening to the Save Your Tears remix, the Fast Car cover, and Paint the Town Red recently, 2/3 of them was thanks to public places playing them, so i'm gonna update it next year no matter what. I was originally gonna leave a bonus as a reply to myself where I "review" every Favorite Movie/Animated Movie nominee, but I'm not feeling it this time.

If any of those reading this are from Pulse Music Board, I’d like to talk. I know I was/am the laughingstock of the website, and I understand why. I posted many, many lame and cringe things (the “muwahahaha” cartoon villain laugh, the “a minorrr” reference, things like that. Not to mention 2004, if you know you know (if you don’t, let’s say I had a particularly unpopular take in that year’s rankdown). I have a tendency to be impulsive and unfiltered when posting, made doubly so by me being autistic, so I was bound to embarrass myself (one could say I had a kink for that). I can take some banter and roasting, and had dutifully embraced my role as the site’s punching bag (my profile pic and signature before I left both referenced that). There are some things I didn’t understand, though. For example, why did asking for a deadline to move back merit a response of “SHUT UP, BITCH!”, funny as it admittedly was, when I’ve participated in enough rankdowns to know that deadlines more often than not get pushed back and there were two other Year-End Hot 100 rankdowns that were due sooner? Moreover, why was it warranted to post a video from my own channel featuring my IRL face and voice? Granted, the video was publicly available, which was an oversight on my part, but I still think that goes beyond mere trolling or taking the piss into being invasive or even malicious and is excessive for an internet forum. If it was meant to make me boardicide (Pulse jargon for account deletion, for anyone who’s not in the know), then it worked exactly as intended, though I wish I’d have stuck out the 2013 and 2018 rankdowns before doing so rather than quitting on the spot. The account I deleted recently wasn’t my first on the site, I had one between 2019 and 2022, which was why everyone knew who I was once my cover was blown. It was probably a bad idea to come back to Pulse in the first place, given that I was kind of a punching bag on my first account two, but I came back to the site because I love the site. I love sharing my opinions and thoughts on popular music, whether it be in the weekly chart discussions, polls and opinion threads, and especially in rankdowns. I have many good memories from my first account, and while I was definitely more disliked and ridiculed on my second, I’m sure I’ll have some fond things to reminisce on from that too. It would be a terrible, terrible idea to rejoin for a third time, but I honestly can’t rule it out. I know someone is probably going to copy/paste this onto Pulse or Discord to have a good laugh at my expense, and that’s fine, but I’d please ask any Pulse users who respond to be cordial. I’m probably a fool to expect cordiality, but I was also a fool to come back in the first place, so I guess that’s just what I am. This will either be a really productive conversation or will end in disaster, but ah well, here goes nothing.
