A lot of songs from previous years can sometimes make a 2nd year end list. Examples include Don't By Ed Sheeran, What Do You Mean by Justin Bieber, Hello By Adele, Can't Feel My Face by The Weeknd and Here by Alessia Cara which made next year's end hot 100s from a previous year respectively

Real Deal Kyogre So true. I aggressively dislike her singing and just her as an artist, but that song was actually really good. The lyrics were very well done, and her voice actually worked over the darker tone. It was kind jarring how good that song is.
@0verjoyed_ac7 жыл бұрын
Liam wrote "Strip That Down" with Ed Sheeran and it's almost a little too reminiscent of "Shape of You" for me. It sounds like Liam went into writing this with the intention of getting a radio hit and Ed said, "Oh, well, 'Shape of You' really worked for me, so let's borrow heavily from it and try to land you a spot on the charts." Those layered vocals in the chorus, the lyrics focused on bodily attraction, the flow of the melody... it's like a Walmart brand knockoff version of "Shape of You." Not that it's terrible; obviously when you write a song with someone, there will probably be great input from them, but this is just kinda blatant if you listen to the chorus a little closer than usual. I haven't decided yet if this is the musical style and direction (no pun intended) that works best for Liam; I guess we'll just have to see.

I wouldn't mind seeing "Bring It Back", "X Men" or "Forever Young" getting in even if the consensus on Yachty's album is that it's a flop. I also would expect to see the new Halsey track and possibly the new Nick Jonas ft. Anne-Marie and Mike Posner. But if there's one track I hope gets in, even though it's a long shot, it's "Cut to the Feeling" by Carly Rae Jepsen. It's an incredibly fun and catchy pop song.

I can't be the only one wishing we could have a fun song come along and become a real summer smash, right? I don't remember the last time that happened. Say what you will about the early part of the decade, but at least there were FUN songs. I'd give an arm and a leg for something like Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.), with a fast beat and a real happy party vibe. Can't we just get SOMETHING like that that's different from this constant drone of background noise that is 2017? Please?
@TheLegendaryMovieCritic7 жыл бұрын
Strip it down is really fun!
@brandondias56227 жыл бұрын
Eh, it's okay, but I wouldn't really call it "fun." Again, the beat is too slow to really party to. At least with the club boom around 2010, a lot of stupid songs were at least fun and you could actually dance to them.
@brandondias56227 жыл бұрын
Well, the thing with Last Friday Night is it at least definitely works at a party, plus it has that killer saxophone solo. Get Lucky is definitely amazing, but Can't Stop the Feeling was too fundamentally broken to enjoy. There was certainly a shift around 2005. That's about the time pop slowly began to come back into the mainstream.
@brandondias56227 жыл бұрын
Oh, well I think that's being a bit harsh. And even if some eras are better or worse in some people's minds, there's always been both good and bad music. There are plenty of awful songs no matter how far back you go. And I can think of several great hits from the past several years - Fuck You!, Rolling in the Deep, Get Lucky, Uptown Funk!, Someone like You - and those are just off the top of my head.
@brandondias56227 жыл бұрын
Yeah, overplay can do more to kill a song for someone than people think. It's why I usually try to give a song like that time to recover from being overplayed. Unfortunately, Shape of You by Ed Sheeran probably won't get much better after it finally goes away. XP I actually don't like Pumped Up Kicks THAT much, but it was certainly nice to see something different at the time. And hey, I don't blame you. There's definitely good music from the 2000's decade, despite what some people think. There are a bunch of hits from then that I like.

At this point, I'm sick of Despacito already. The only reason it got as popular as it did is because of Bieber; take him away and it's just another generic Latin pop track. @thejustinoshow79087 жыл бұрын
Timon Lolmemes it's actually pretty good. The beat is easily the weakest part though. Rae Sremmurd has a solid alcohol themed verse with Swae Lee's hook doing a great job of sounding like it's drowned out on lean. Gucci does Gucci things and of course Kendrick is the best even though he didn't blow me away. The only reason I like this song a lot is because of the hook. It's kinda fun to sing along to, and ,like I said, goes well with the drunk atmosphere of the lyrics.

A few one-off performances being decent doesn't mean anything - it has to be consistent. While my intonation's not as bad (I tend to sing maybe a third down maybe at best, or just being a lot sharp), I do have those days where I can be pitch for pitch. It has to be able to be done over and over again to be considered a quality in the positive.

Naos i get your point, but i like het voice and technique (kinda sloppy but nice since she was 15, very unchained like Xtina), i love the runs and riffs and when she ad libs that high notes on Bas Things hmmmmm bitch gets me shook. Mostly I agree she can go out of pitch sometimes but I still think she has more good moments than bad moments

I honestly kind of dig the new Hailee Steinfeld song. I will never like rascal flatts, but im glad theyre going back to their roots. sia is a wonderful writer, but the new camila cabello song is not my favourite thing, it just fell flat for what it was supposed to be honestly. chained the rhythm was a really good song to me, but i didnt really care for swish swish either, even though i wouldn't say its terrible by any means. its still a bop. i think picking on the title of deja vu was kinda a far fetch attempt to say something shitty about the voice agains, we get it, you dont like the voice, cool. this song was done well. liams song is horrible. i do not like it what-so-ever. the only one direction member thats done well for me is harry.

Can someone please tell Camilla that she just can't sing? Crying In The Club is probably her worst song yet.

It's way better than Crap Things. Plus Halsey's song Strangers with 5H's Lauren is debuting next week too. What do you think of it?
