Dizzy being on this album at all is a sign of someone being monumentally delusional, either Olly himself or someone on his team, because including the literal 0 TELEVOTING POINTS song of Eurovision 2024 on your album is a bad omen and the song doesn’t have the interesting ideas to signal an album that tries to be interesting.

I say this as a big fan of The Weeknd - this album is perfectly mediocre. I really, really wanted to like it - it was his last album under that persona after all. But....no. Half of the songs feel like a filler. Stuff like "Reflections Laughing", "Drive" and "Give me Mercy" just bored me to death. Also, really? He included "Timeless" which is a terrible song but left "Dancing In The Flames" off the album? Lol. Overall, it had some hits but I can't give it more than 6. I'm so, so sorry.

I find all of his albums mixtapes and the one EP to be absolute masterpieces. Hurry up tomorrow is no exception. From start to finish not a single bad song on any album. Longtime fans of any artist always find their first albums to be their best. This is true with every single artist whether the newer music is better or not.

Something I’ve thought about The Weeknd for a long time is that he wants to be deep and share his darkest thoughts, but he can’t do what he wants cuz his darkest thoughts are shallow and already shared. His core is the persona, less exaggerated. The alleged ambition of this trilogy was never completely sold to me cuz of how often the details are “I’m doing drugs and fucking and cheating and depressed”. I hope he can break this shell with whatever new project he does, but I’m not holding my breath.

Interesting list, I've watched a lot of other top lists for 2024 and there were 18 albums that I've neither seen any other youtuber mention nor any publication I checked mention, that is an impressive stat. To be so different and to also rank Taylor Swift so highly is very funny to me, but hey it's your honest opinion, thank you for sharing it.

TL;DW Abel’s music (and mythos) didn’t work for him when you dive into the (production) details ~ But at least Spectrum Pulse and his complicated relationship with The Weeknd is over~

I liked this album but I do agree that it's bloated. It would have been better if at least 4 songs were left off. Even though AF and DFM were way better I think he ended off on an okay note. I doubt the movie in May will be decent though 💀
@sinergyalpha60464 күн бұрын
Basing your whole review on the person😂 i assume you think every Kanye album is baf because hes bi polar.
@SpectrumPulse4 күн бұрын
No, I think the recent set of Kanye albums are atrocious because he's played out, his lyrics have gone to shit, and he's doing fashy bullshit, all of which is very independent from him being bipolar. And given that the 'person' of X was his entire baseline appeal given how bad of a technical rapper and producer and singer he was, and how it became a fundamental component of the framing of his music, I'm gonna bring it up.
@alex_flamer4 күн бұрын
I have the same thoughts on this album as you do. Way too long, and the lyrics do very little to tie together the narrative being told across the trilogy. Also leaves very little impact. I am curious about the movie and his upcoming tour, though.

In all seriousness, the transition from “Baptized In Fear” to “ Open Hearts” is one of the greatest I’ve heard in a long time. Honestly this album has some of the best transitions I’ve heard since “The Fragile” from Nine Inch Nails, and I wish there were more in the latter half.

Fine enough album. Dissapointingly bad for a the Weeknd album. Bloated, the cynical and depressing middle part destroys the pacing, the text and poetry does not distinctify itself from other projects, so the consept leaves less impact than it should. Idk, kinda dissapointed, but not suprised. I'll take the bangers and go back to After hours and triology.

Hey that song has been my most repeated off the album😅 Say What you want but I do like that the lyrics can be interpreted for his fans, almost meta when it comments on the parasocial nature of his artistry~ Plus the genre switch up bridged by an SOS band sampling SHOOK ME~
@thebluemxxnКүн бұрын
In my opinion Cry For Me is more of the fan favourite rather than the Weeknd himself pushing it. He made videos for *Open Hearts* and Red Terror and even released shorter single versions for *Open Hearts*, Wake Me Up and Enjoy The Show.
@lapersongd7495 күн бұрын
on first listen, the middle third of the album felt very bloated. after a few more listens, they grew on me very quickly. however, i started disliking timeless very quickly the more i listened. dont rlly agree too much with your opinions but music is subjective and i respect it.

It's the weakest of the trilogy, but I still liked it. I will say that it is way too long. You could easily shave 25-30 minutes off this album and you wouldn't be missing anything, especially in the 2nd half where the his lyrics and the tracks themselves musically start to get repetitive and samey.
@alexddragame5 күн бұрын
Weakest album out of last 3, but still quite good, if a bit too long and with some duds(granted, making very long albums with high highs and low lows is definitely very The Weeknd)

I'm intrigued and skeptical about what's to come for Able after this trilogy. That's all I'll say for now on that. In the meantime, I'm not through listening to it, but there's good moments, just not living up to his best
@marcobeauvue5 күн бұрын
I understand and respect all your points. I do agree it was somewhat long, could have been trimmed a bit. But for me it's fantastic. I'm more of a casual person than acritic, that's for sure. I'm not the person to explain what each theme, lyric, production choice is about. But I have to disagree with you on one thing. Cry For Me is, for me, not only a good single choice, it's a fantastic track. It's rare that songs stuck with me on first listen, but Cry For Me absolutely did. Although Open Hearts might be even better on third and fourth listens. But overall, solid review, keep up the amazing work you do, cheers!

By far the most disappointing track on HUT. A song containing the talent of Abel, Travis & Florence all at once had insane potential, and it’s just a mess.

Longtime fan of The Weeknd and I personally absolutely LOVED Dawn FM, so after the embarrassment that was the Idol and the incredibly underwhelming singles, I was NERVOUS for this album. I enjoyed it, but I also found it to be too long (to its detriment) and it wasn’t quite the wrap up to the trilogy I was hoping for.
@lydiavalentino5 күн бұрын
That franchise analogy was right on the mark. I like a lot of Hurry Up Tomorrow, but the focus on colder and bigger-sounding synth production feels like it came at the expense of making the great pop singles of BBTM/Starboy/AfterHours, and it really showed with how the middle section dragged.
@TheMiels4 күн бұрын
“On the Mark” i see what you did there

He most likely removed Dancing in the Flames because it felt tasteless to have it in there after the L.A. fires. It is a decision I can get behind. But he still kept a song with the line, "the sky is burnin' bright. Set my heart of fire. Set my heart on fire."
@CawCophony5 күн бұрын
nah i imagine that decision was made earlier than that bcuz it's not on the weirdo first pressing tracklist either and i can't imagine that pressing was so recent if they wanted to have the stock in time for the original release date
