Billboard being set to end the 2024 tracking year in a couple of weeks is absurd. We’ll again end up having 2.5 months of the calendar year that aren’t even counted! Why not just have your awards show later instead of cutting off the Year-End list this early? Many more people care about the latter.

Song recommendations: - Carita Triste by Ana Mena and Emilia (I love the disco beat, the beautiful singers, the keys peppering the mix, and the Spanish[?] lyrics, even if I have yet to understand what they actually mean. This is a genuinely dazzling and beautiful song, check it out!) - Lights, Camera, Action by Kylie Minogue (way darker than it needed to be, but way better than it had any right to be.) - Toyo by KZ Tandingan (Toyo is basically a brown salty soy sauce, a metaphor for the salty frustration this girl feels at the realization that at the very moment she was ready to move on, this ex shorts her better impulses and makes her begrudgingly give him another chance despite the fact that he will most likely break her again. The guitars, drums, and KZ's awesome performance sell this exceptionally well, and all of this makes this a strong contender for my favorite Filipino song of 2024, and one of the best songs period of the year. Well done, KZ!) - Driving Weather by Neriah (Well, this is a blatant ripoff of Save Your Tears by the Weeknd. Hey, it's at least a great ripoff of it.) - Bye Bye Bye by Dasha (no, it's not better than the NSYNC song of the same name. Yes, this is still a great country song either way.)

Billboard Bubbling Under Top 25: October 5, 2024 (Given that most of 'Mixtape Pluto' will likely fall off next week, many of these tracks could capitalize on a lack of big competition.) 1. Messed Up As Me by Keith Urban (+14) (This did manage to ride his album boost as I predicted, but I don't think the momentum will carry into next week for a potential Hot 100 crossover.) 4. New Drop by Don Toliver (+10) 10. Bad Time by Lil Tecca (Re-Entry) (It seemed like bad timing to release his new album against Future's mixtape and have Lil Tecca's momentum taken away as a result.) 11. Praise by Elevation Worship ft. Brandon Lake, Chris Brown & Chandler Moore (-4) 12. Juna by Clairo (-7) (This isn't quite holding up enough strength in streaming to capitalize on next week's falloff.) 13. What He'll Never Have by Dylan Scott (+1) 14. Heavy Is The Crown by Linkin Park (New) (I don't think this is likely to ride a full tracking week onto the Hot 100 next week, so expect Mark's opinion on the track to be saved if someone recommends the upcoming album for him to review.) 18. The problem is, just like Trump, he lies all the damn time. Walz is a MUCH more likeable, affable candidate and hit the home run on kitchen table issues and especially Jan 6th (which I would actually argue flat out won him the debate) but he said before this he wasn't a very good debater and with his deer in the headlights look and a couple of gaffes here and there (Most notably the "I'm friends with school shooters" one) you could kinda tell. A Future album bomb? Yawn. This dude is so boring.

Wow. TikTokers are really rebranding themselves for the better. First Addison Rae, now Alex Warren. And they're both from a very annoying side of TikTok that dominated the pandemic era

Honestly I kinda like Odetari… but yeah his songs are definitely hit or miss. Keep Up isn’t his best, but it still is pretty good all things considered

To me that Alex Warren song is absolutely terrible. Especially coming from the UK where music that has sounded like that has been overly dominant on the radio and omnipresent on the charts for years. The difference being he is a dreadful singer compared to other pedlars of that anonymous pop soul like Rag n Bone Man, Tom Grennan, etc.

Do you think that the SESAC/KZbin situation would impact the charts in the coming weeks?
@jchmusic75874 ай бұрын
They actually made a deal, and things are going back to normal
@Artizm_Music4 ай бұрын
@@jchmusic7587 yeah I knew that. And that’s good. I’m just curious to see if that brief moment would impact the charts because as we all know, certain moments in music business would take a week to impact the charts.
@jchmusic75874 ай бұрын
@@Artizm_Music If this were the early 2010s, definitely. KZbin nowadays doesn't make much of an impact on the charts. The other streaming services have pretty much taken over
@TomCatwhick.4 ай бұрын
Maybe slightly next week. Didn't last long enough to cause a major disruption. Songs might drop a couple of spots that were effected; I can't see any song dropping enough just off of this to warrant any mentions in Billboard Breakdown next week. If a song had natural traction on streaming and is currently charting outside of the bottom 5 it will stick around post Future album bomb. KZbin isn't a major factor on the chart anymore.

What is SESAC and what was the situation with KZbin?
@buzitozamalo474 ай бұрын
is a bar song actually that monumental as a single or does billboard just have crappy rules that leave it lingering at #1 😂 cause there’s no comparing this to any of the other year defining hits of 2017 2019 et cetera… honestly i watch this just to hear mark’s intelligent commentary, imho billboard has no credibility
@SuperFlashDriver4 ай бұрын
It might end up getting close to Old Town Road or One Sweet Day by Mariah Carey and Lil Nas X if this continues.

@@SuperFlashDriver yeah and that is complete bs lmao. after 2021 it seems billboard's rules have been getting progressively worse

Music-Related Movie Trailer Thoughts: Smile 2 (For real this time.) Yes, I'm counting this a music-related movie. It is about a pop star. Point is I once made a trailer thoughts on this that mostly talked about my feelings on its existence, only to end with "I didn't actually watch this trailer." But last month when I saw the Beetlejuice sequel, they played a trailer for this movie. Or in other words, I saw clips from the Smile series for the first time. Guess I'll make a real trailer thoughts on it now. The reason why I didn't make this comment sooner is because other comments I wanted to make got in the way. Just what I expected, it looks dumb. Joker 2, I owe you an apology. I thought you were the most unnecessary sequel that turned a regular movie into a music-related movie that's coming out this month. But I was wrong. I'm still not gonna watch that sequel now that I heard it's not that good, and I'm gonna stick with the blu-ray of the first one I got at a used media store where I didn't realized the case was damaged until after I bought it. Let me talk about the trailer selection I got with the Beetlejuice sequel for a bit. Because the first half was this and some other dumb horror movie (Speak No Evil. What made this more awkward was this was playing in the other screen at my two screen theater), and the other half were family movies. They didn't even have that green screen during the beginning of trailers between the horror one and the family movie one. The family one just starts. Oh, the family movie trailers were for the two animated movies about robots that released during September that I haven't seen but heard are really good (Transformers One and The Wild Robot. No pointed this out yet). But are either of them as peak as Robots (2005)? And where does Robot Dreams fit in? Wasn't I supposed to be talking about something else?
