Billboard Hot 100 2020s Decade-End List using real points (Updated to: 09/14/2024)

Hi all! It's been almost a year since I last updated this list, but now here it is: The Hot 100 Decade-End list for the 2020s using real points as of the latest chart available (09/14/2024). Besides the introduction of new songs, I decided to introduce multipliers to the ranking as a mean of balancing out each year. As such, 2020 gets a multiplier of x0.95; 2021, x1.00; 2022, x1.05; and both 2023 and 2024, x1.10.

This video shows what a Billboard Hot 100 Decade-End list for the 2020s would look like if it was built using real points instead of an inverse-point system. By real points, we're talking about the points each song gain week by week through the three main components that make the Hot 100: radio, streaming and sales. In other words, this video ranks the songs according to their popularity during their chart-runs through the Hot 100 list.
As we're at the fifth year of the current decade, solely the top 50 songs have been included for the purposes of this video.

Making Heat Waves surpass As It Was in points, and songs like You Proof and Need To Know shooting up way higher.

So which formula does it make sense for Billboard to use?

I would say it makes more sense to use inverse-points, as music consumption rarely remains the same across a 10 years-long period. I mean, an inverse-points system allows you to compare two songs regardless of the time period they come from, as it's easier to determine objective multipliers for it when compared to real points.

I disagree with inverse points as currently implemented because it gives far too much value to #1s (~50% more points than even #2), top 5s, and top 10s, to the point that songs like Too Sweet and Beautiful Things are getting functionally dirt in their current placements despite in real points being well above everything outside of the top 15 at this point.
