I love how Joy always looks deeply at the person she's singing with. I feel like it's the way she looks that them that she is able to connect and harmonize with them so well vocally, because she actually pays attention to them, not like most singers who end up turning it into a competition of who can sing better, Joy instead looks to help whoever she's singing with shine more brightly.

Saying that Hayley sang better than Joy is nonsensical. First of all, they sing in totally different genres. Secondly, their voices are unique. Third of all, THIS IS A DUET, they're meant to sing together not trying to SHINE brighter than the other. Hayley has explained her reasons for this collab - i.e. she met Joy when she was a lot younger and has always wanted to work with her. Which means, this was the kind of duet she wanted. I think, in this regard, the collab was successful. While most people would be more familiar with her as part of Civil Wars (don't get me started on that, I'm a super fan) - she's a seasoned solo artist. And if you're not allergic to Christian Contemporary Music, you'd know that Joy can sing quite powrfully. Why hate? Why not just enjoy? These two ladies did well.

People can rarely pull off Hayley's music because the way she sings is not all about her voice. she performs and puts alot of power and character behind her vocals. its like emphasis in languages. its a very unique brand for each one. joy drags out her notes and has a softer indie vibe. her vocal fad aways do not suit this song because hayley is sharp and punctual, which is how she wrote it. that being said....hayley wins for me because sheer power/charisma/performance. she is such a unique singer. joy's brand is not very unique. success is the music industry isnt just about voice. there are millions of pretty powerful singers. its all about authenticity and branding.
