Last week I broke down a couple of activities in regard to their reasoning for use and influences on propulsion. Today’s Q&A is by request to breakdown a cable chop.
I use the specific context of working with someone with a Wide ISA moving toward a late propulsive strategy.

I have been playing with these to get into my left heel and hip . Very useful. Takes some practice getting the foot contacts correct. Cool thing is you can do these in the gym and doesn’t feel or look like a rehab exercise. Thanks for content!

Hey Bill, thank you for the Video! Which chopping strategy would you recommend for a narrow with flat turn instead of the strategy mentioned here for the wide with right oblique, when the goal ist to expand the left lower posterior and coming back to left? A Chop from right to left down? Also which foot position should be captured? Thank you!

It would depend on how much right hip IR is available.

So should one first push forward on the right sacral base to square it before even attempting to move on to a heel elevated campo deadlift? Get a feel for pushing on the right sacral base first before executing the turn?

as the chop crosses right to left with right foot forward, that's what you'd be doing.

@@BillHartmanPT ok, I'll play with right foot forward chopping before I make the transition to campo. Thanks Bill

How many sets/reps do you perform of the first variation before switching to the second? Do you immediately change it up after one set? Thanks.

Same question. I would assume you would perform the right foot forward variation and retest KPI (R hip IR) and once recaptured the progress to the left foot back variation?

@@justinnewcomer3269 that would be correct.

Would a right foot forward split squat w contralateral load or a right foot back campo dl w contralateral load as well, work to bring the right side back? Or due to the high level of compression being end game a right cross connect w pressure on the right side of the sacrum would be more ideal? Thank you Bill

If compression is significant you may need to reduce gravity in the CC, but if you have someone with some movement experience, go for the home run. You can always reduce demands if it's doesn't get you what you want.
