We agree that “What Was I Made For” is the “My Heart Will Go On” of the new generations, but instead of dealing with love, it delves into existential crises. As a psychology student, I’ve realized that this song truly heals. hold a special place in the hearts of listeners, offering solace and connection through their melodies and lyrics. They aren’t really comparable songs in any capacity in my opinion. This is a wonderful song, but it’s more akin to Christina Aguilera’s beautiful, Mariah Carey’s Outside, or a number of introspective/reflective songs about your worth and purpose on Pink’s missundaztood album. My heart in themes, catharsis, and chart dominance is like I will always love you (Whitney’s version).

I was so delighted with how much this movie was like a love letter to aging. It's something everyone, especially women, are trained from day one to fear and hate. But aging is a privilege. Wrinkles and grey hairs and stretch marks and all of it. It's a gift. Dying young isn't beautiful. Being able to live long is. Edit: some people are showing off their lack of reading comprehension skills.

Especially women? Men dont age? Also, you realise women statistically live longer?
@sueprice3315Ай бұрын
@@PinkeySuavo The OP didn't say "men don't age". They said that especially women are taught to fear and hate aging. That is true in this society. Older men can be considered "distinguished" but women remain under pressure to look young. To not have wrinkles and gray hair and stretch marks. I agree with the OP that the movie challenges that aspect of our culture. Especially in the scene at 1:05.

Eilish captured that existential moment when every woman questions the conditions of her life, her choices, her acculturations, her destinies, fates, her life. As the rights for women are now under assault, it reminds me of the multitude of assaults women have endured over the millenia. Eilish's voice resurrects gossamer ghosts of women past, who struggled to define, live, and actuate what they were made for. The question is as relevant today as it ever was.

As a 55-year-old guy, not many songs can bring me to tears, apart from this one. I haven't watched the movie as of yet, however, after listening to Billie singing these beautiful words I will take the time to watch the movie. I guess whilst listening to the song we kind of reflect on life in the past and what could have been. I found out the lady sitting on the bench with Barbie is a well-known costume designer that goes by the name of Ann Roth, who was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Costume Design five times, winning twice. Such a lovely scene in this video watching both of them smile at each other. Update, I never usually update any of my previous KZbin comments, I finally got around to watching the movie, what can I say?, certainly wasn't expecting the way the storyline went as I thought it was geared towards youngsters only but was pleasantly surprised, kinda very much hit home about us as human beings and on how we should treat people, kindness will always win. I also realised why I cried at this scene, when Margot looks at the lady, then smiles, it triggered a memory of an ex-girlfriend that had the same smile and pose and as stated above what I said "what could have been". Funny how the brain can trigger these memories and emotions, however, at the time you never know why things make you cry, I now know it was/is happy tears.

I had a suspicion that this scene was of someone special. Thx for the info. Honestly, I had no desire to watch this movie but it was on the list of choices on my 15 hour flight to India. I started watching it with an attitude of THIS WON'T BE WORTH IT AND IM SURE I'LL BE TURNING FROM IT REAL QUICK. It turns out I was super wrong and even shed some tears when this song came on ... Ughhh lol. I was all in the whole time and even clapped at the end by myself in my seat on the plane. Wow. Goes to show you, in this case ME, how our preconceived impressions and misjudgements can make us miss out on valuable lessons. This was WAYYYY better than I imagined and even had a real plot and heart gripping storyline IF you just give it a chance, glad I did. It's great for men, women, and youth/ kids regarding identity, priorities, self image, mindset, roles, history, dreams, family, kindness, civility, regret, life, time, communication, community, friendship, group think, critical thinking, loyalty, tenacity, and much much more. WOW WAS I SO WRONG LOL 😢😅🎉🥴🙌🏾 Ok, I'm done analyzing lol.

The fact that a song with minimal production can tug so strongly on the heart shows how great it is. Simplicity is everything. Billie's breathy vocals really light up stripped-down songs but I can also see the genius of Finneas behind this. The Billie-Finneas combination is 24-carat gold!

@@bezelyetohumu I've never felt so well-represented by a movie before. A thousand things almost every woman experiences and acknowledges and talk amongst ourselves about put on a screen? Of course some people will become emotional. It's not something we ever expected, but it's something society needed to see, I think. It feels very cathartic to have these experiences validated by such a massively successful piece of media for the first time possibly ever. The Barbie movie is a serious social commentary unlike any I've EVER seen hidden behind pinks and smiles and glitter bombs. It's made by women for women, so no, please don't call a girl dramatic for crying over finally having years of painful experiences validated. You would too if it was you. No words can describe how relatable, empowering, emotional, & lovely this song is to me. this song is over the moon the best song lyrically, and sonically of 2023. The way it shapes mental health, talks of the rising elegance of floating on air and then the juxtapositions of them falling down and having your life fall apart, then no knowing how to feel or bare feelings but still having that hope that someday you’ll be better, is so empowering and human of Billie & Finneas. I deeply cherish it, and I wanna thank Billie, Finneas, Greta, etc for this beautiful work of art, I really needed this. I’m on my path to getting better, and being the best version of myself

Since childhood, I’ve always sought a particular feeling to try to understand the life my mom lived since marrying my father. He put her through difficult times on several occasions, and even today, it sometimes happens. And this song has helped me understand so much about her; it’s as if it encapsulates her entire story. I will always be grateful for the existence of this film, which allows me to connect with memories of my mom even in the most vulnerable moments.
