Is it, though? No. It's not. She has zero control. Her glissandos for every note make it akin to a merry-go ride. She has zero control over the bottom of her chest voice register. That's why the bottom always crackles up a bit. The high end of her chest voice register is equally bad, because she lacks the technique to open her larynx, use just enough pressure on her midriff to buid up pressure below, and relax her throat, to make the high notes come out properly. That's why it sounds to breathy and also, pitchy. She puts so much strain on her entire system, that she can't help but sing pitchy (i.e.: out of tune). let's take a look at a few lines, ok? "through the years". 1:55. Vibrato on the years. Why? not necessary. She simply lacks control. "troubles away". 1:21. Vibrato, trills. Flourishes that are not necessary at that point. "Here we are". 1.23. A glissando on the "here" and "are, spanning a full second. That's just bad technique, bad taste, and completely superfluous. And that's just after one listen. Eilish has the vocal control of a toddler. And if you will reply with "can you do it better, then?!". Yes. Yes I can. I'm a classically trained singer.

@@storygroove well i'll admit until recently i hadn't taken the time to really listen to her. being 70 and growing up on 60/70's rock i found it difficult to find anything listenable sice, and i've found that with the advent of the internet and autotune there is a hell of a load of crap out there. with all the hype and publicity shoved down our throats as soon as i see abc in my feed i switch off completely. i'm not directing that at solely for the girls but i had heard a few of them and thought WTF is that, and then saw the videos and thought yeah, ok shes showing next weeks laundry, thats the sell. with billie i heard a couple of songs years back but found the vocals too whispery, too far back in the mix, and as i didn't care much for the tune itself i didn't follow up. by accident i found myself watching the channel where guests get to eat chicken wings, and the chilli dip gets hotter and hotte, and she was on it. within a minute it was a case of wow, this girl is so laid back and witty, and that voice got me thinking of a revisit. so next time there she was in my feed, and it was ocean eyes, and that was the clincher for me, i could hear her clearly and she has a voice. i've watched a few others, and although the songs are still not to my taste i stay to listen to her voice, and that video in the shopping mall is so fun. love her style, her humour and the voice.
