One of the worst pains in this life is to love someone with all your being and yet realize they don't feel the same about you. You would be willing give up everything for them yet it means nothing to them.

Ze are inferior. You must love yourself before you can love someone else. Understanding what makes you lovable to yourself is what matters. Others should love you for what they love you for. NOT what you want them to love you for. Cause you love yourself for whatever it is. Love is a Choice and choose game. It can be replayed daily. Cause after all nighttime and rest means a mental reset. A new day. A new start. Of course…… actions define yourself more then words….. let that be at it is.

Lady Day was a slave prostitute at 12. The pain lasted till 44, then she found her peace. This song was recorded when she was 43 and dying. The producer considered these sessions as bad, then he heard the final mixes and caught the pain and dignity and beauty of Lady Day. This is her last record while still alive. Rest in peace, Lady.

A splendid performance that only Billy, who has experienced everything in life, could sing. Billy lived in discrimination and died in discrimination. we have to accept that reality. Billy is a vocalist who transcends the boundaries of jazz. This album is Billie's masterpiece.
@Musicienne-DAB1995Ай бұрын
Agreed. She went through indignity after indignity due to racial discrimination, despite being popular and well-paid. I strongly suspect the reason she was left unattended in hospital for hours had to do with her being African-American. Some of her pain was due to her own poor decisions: relationships with abusive men (is this song autobiographical) and wasting her money and, eventually, her life, on heroin. Then there was the sexual abuse in childhood and the lack of a solid family structure with its accompanying poverty. Very sad.

The opening cut from "Lady In Satin," the next-to-last LP she made, and the last one released during her lifetime. Her Instrument is almost gone, but her taste and the musicianship are torridly intact. The gorgeous orchestration is by Ray Ellis; the vulnerable lyrics were co-written by... Frank Sinatra. One of the greatest jazz singers of all time. When I listen to this song, not only she can make me feel her pain but also live her pain. 16 years old Angelina Jordan was influenced by Billie Holiday at a very young age. At the age of 7 she auditioned for Norway Got Talent singing “Gloomy Sunday” kzbin.info/www/bejne/mmTKhJulbt6Zbpo and followed that with an A cappella version of “I’m A Fool to Want You”. kzbin.info/www/bejne/bH2slISCasx_pbs She proceeded to win at the big prize at the finals. At the age of 11 she recorded “I’m A Fool to Want You” for her Album “It’s Magic” kzbin.info/www/bejne/iXjbYZegjbmLh80 If any one comes close to personifying the soul of Lady Day, it is Angelina Jordan.
