India is at the same stage where USA was in 90s. We do not need 5 companies of Trillions Dollar but rather 5000 or may be 10000 companies of 100 million dollars. This will lead to two things, 1. All industries will have participation in growth & scale & 2. Per capital income of people will increase which will increase buying capacity & eventually will increase higher growth in national income.

Biggest takeaway... Top 4 Businesses: 1. Lending - people are ready to pay for credit 2. Export businesses - services and products. Earn in dollar/euro, spend in rupees. Talent is cheap in India. 3. License/permission based businesses. (has a moat that others can't breach) 4. Distribution led businesses in India (B2B) - reach where no one can reach. Other take aways: - Don't brood over mistakes, keep moving forward. - India has limited opportunity, so go full charging towards your unthinkable dream. No plan B. - Everyone should be a sales man. Should be a pleasure to talk with.

Amazing session. The way Raj picks the brains of these entrepreneurs is the key to get these valuable insights. First time listening to Asish sir. From him to talk about dhanda and also have the Mckinsey experience is incredible.
Asish Mohapatra # have an Unthinkable dream * # Go all in - apna paisa, time, effort, reputation, sab laga do is ek cheez pe. All eggs in 1 basket. # Making a list to get to ur dream will take time # Bada risk mat lo khaas kar shuruat me, survive karo pehle # Profits n Growth can go side by side # Be a Salesman Simple defn - Saamne waale ko interact karke maza aana chaiye. # Create a team of people who can do their individual jobs very good. Create a happy and bonding culture. # OBSERVE open mindedly -> U will find some good thing -> Chalo kar dete hai (yaad reh jayega fir). # Pain sehne ki taakat # Aadmi mazedaar hona chaiye # Be humble # Quick decision making, saare variables k liye mat ruko # Dont go with an agenda, go with the flow, things keep changing # Y individual fails - Lack of Goal(s) # Company ka Culture build karna and evolve karna shud start from Day 1 # Introspection - MAINE kya galat kiya? MAI kyu adapt nahi kar paya team k saath? # Its easier to train a Committed person to become Competent than doing vice-versa. To increas one's commitment - use Money, Maza, Fame. # Ek Main Business k profit me se chhote chhote naye businesses karo ; if u have reached 5,000 customers , sell some other product to the same as it's easier compared to expanding the business further # Jitna complex n difficult ek business hoga utna kam usko copy karenge log # how to be an Alpha - 1) Obsession 2) jugaad - kuch bhi karke wo obsession poora karne k tareeke dhundna 3) Give it ur all # Mistakes are Inevitable BUT you can do one thing => CUT YOUR LOSSES - agar koi business kharaab jaa raha hai, immediately band kar do, Shut down kar do. # A good salesperson- makes u feel Wow. Qualities of a great salesman 1) Connect at a very basic level e.g. hobbies, background 2) Carrot PLUS Stick Agree PLUS Disagree - fine balance So that he wants to give u order plus u make a profitable deal 3) Affable PLUS Humble 4) Confidence 5) Energy, Eternal Optimist # Irrational Optimism

I also come from the same state. I never knew a guy from my state is a founder of unicorn startup I feel proud of you Ashish . Generally in Odisha mindset of all parent are to get their ward do a job they never support someone who is willing aspire to start a business but slowly that narrative is changing. If you visit our state you will rarely find a big business owned by a Odia. Mostly marawadi or some North Indian Sindhi or Gujarati do business. But it is changing now
