On this episode of On Purpose, I sat down with billionaire investor, Ray Dalio.
We talk about why pain is necessary in order to make progress and why we shouldn’t focus on being right all the time. Dalio also reveals what he believes is the greatest tragedy of mankind and gives us 5 steps to achieving success.
If you’ve ever wanted insight into how billionaires think, this episode is for you!

There’s no shorter path to wisdom than this video. 1. What is one trait you look for in a potential employee? - character. 2. What is one trait you possess that you believe got your to where your are today? - Fear. Humility. Fear and acceptance of failing. And a taste for adventure. 3. What’s something you’ve learned through the process of passing on your life learnings? - it’s hard. You need to let go of caring about the outcome while caring so much about others. As a teacher, you can only facilitate growth. You can’t force it. 4. What’s one thing you are looking forward to most in this 3rd stage of your life? - To be free to live and free to die. To watch others be successful without me. 5. What’s a principal you are currently trying to learn? - There are so many nice people in the world living and learning. Incredible, thank you.

The 5 steps to success - 1. Know your goals. 2. Encounter problems on the way to your goals. 3. Diagnose the problems you encounter to their ROOT cause. 4. Design a plan to get around the ROOT cause of your problem. 5. Execute on that plan. Repeat these steps at least once a year and you are bound to be successful. Bound to be successful. All you need are flexibility and self-accountability! Collaborate and bring these two gifts to others and you will have everything you need for success. Hypothesize Design Test Learn Loop

Wow, if Ray Dalio’s approach about protocols when there is a disagreement, could be applied by leaders of US and China that could prevent to old fashion way of dealing with differences through “being right” and using military force and killing people. Hope both governments will learn from Ray Dalio’s approach to thoughtful disagreement! It could be the difference between life and death for the people they are trying to serve! 🎉

IDK. His whole vibe gives me privileged white man. Most people don’t have dads who can lend them $4k. I think billionaires generally sound out of touch & give bad advice to people starting out.
@bensjourney7607
@bensjourney7607 3 жыл бұрын
You missed the point my bro. He is aware of his privileges, but there is nothing stopping you from making it to the top. As long as you feel a disconnect from different types of people, from different cultures,status and from different backgrounds, you will be incomplete as an individual. Even if you don't like the guy which I don't know why you would, you don't know him personally and you are basically judging him because of how he looks and his status. Listen to 50 cents book I think you will connect with what his saying, regarding expanding your circle to different types of people. And the person in the podcast didn't become a billionaire because of privilege, sure he had help, but he made due to his individual determination and hard work, and thinking different to those around him. Anyways hope this helped you see the other view, its exactly what he discussed having the ability to accept and embrace another individuals point of view as you could be wrong.

Nobody in this world is self made thats all a myth. We all made it with the help of someone. In this case it was his dad. So what though there is nothing wrong with that yes his dad loaned him $4000 but guess what he capitalized off of it which not many people do. Thats a skill itself. All you could do is instead of being envious learn from him. I mean its not like he's doing anything illegal. He's doing something right if he made it this far.
