Just replaced the shock absorbers on my 2006 LG WD-1018C Front Loader and she is running like it's 2006 again. Less then $50 for the parts and using your vid compared to the professional repair guy who quoted $260. Legend. Thanks mate.

I would love to see how to tilt the machine to get the two side shocks. This is on my agenda to fix tomorrow!
@BillOfAllTrades201610 ай бұрын
I left the water lines attached and pulled the machine about 2’ from the wall. Then tilt it backwards toward the wall. I had it balanced enough where it didn’t need support. But you can put wood blocks to protect it from falling on you. Wear gloves because there is a lot to bump your knuckles into down there. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe. And all the best in your repair

@@BillOfAllTrades2016 always great to compare some pointers from such KZbin videos , thanks for uploading I just finished to install 3 shocks on my 15 year old LG machine . As it turned out only one shock had shown some weakness . For the part of installation I tipped my machine about 45 degrees to one side , onto an about 16 inch support for safe resting , the open bottom of the LG machine granted me a fairly easy access . I did not diagnose other problems first , so 30 Dollar and 2 hours of my weekend is still cheaper than making a SERVICE CALL :)

It’s easier to replace them if you remove the front panel of the washer

Nice video. Question, are all three shock absorbers the same size ? Or is the one in the back a different size?

All three are the same size. Thanks for watching. Please like and subscribe

Is it important to have the top pin and bottom pin reserved in direction?

I’m not sure what you mean by “reserved in direction”

These seem plasticky and not durable. I wonder if it 's possible to fit a bicycle or motorcycle shock instead of these (sans the spring of course).
@BillOfAllTrades201611 ай бұрын
These plastic shocks lasted 14 years doing about 3 loads of laundry a week. That’s pretty durable. And You can only put oem fit shocks specified for the machine onto it. Bike shocks would never fit. Plus anything that is not the correct precise fit will make the machine unbalanced and it won’t sense the load.

@@BillOfAllTrades2016 Of course I mean installed with the correct custom bushings etc. My last washer lasted for 40 years btw.
@BillOfAllTrades201611 ай бұрын
That’s great that the machine lasted 40 years. However it’s just more practical and budget friendly to buy oem parts for the machine. Custom made shocks with custom made bushings will cost you hundreds of dollars. That’s extreme. Don’t over think stuff. Just buy the shock absorber that was made for the machine. These machines are fine tuned and calibrated. As I said before. Throwing on some custom made shock absorbers could result in the drum not being able to balance itself. Your idea is definitely interesting and creative. But it WILL NOT Work when applied to real world.
