Great video Bill - One Question - I want to drill into the wall to fit a 40mm Wall Plug - Is there a way to drill 40mm into the wall and no more - how do you measure and get the depth just right of the hole ?
@billshowto5 жыл бұрын
Hi, generally it’s not a big issue if you drill slightly deeper than the wall plug as most walls will be hollow in the middle ( eg; bricks, cinder blocks ect..). If you did want to drill exactly 40mm you could measure the drill bit from the tip and mark it at 40mm with some sticky tape. That way you drill up the the tape and stop there. Hope that helps 👍👍

Does your drill bit have to be smaller than your ramset anchor screw when you drill into the brick? I am trying to put a hot water cage up?
@billshowto5 жыл бұрын
Hi it should be the same size. If you are unsure drill the hole slightly smaller and try it first. You can always make the hole bigger but not smaller 👍👍

G'day Bill. Great video. With the dyna-bolt, if possible, you can drill the hole slightly deeper than the bolt is, so if you do have to remove what you fitted later on, instead of grinding it off you just tap it further into the hold and fill over it. This has been helpful fitting my gun safe in rentals. Cheers.

In addition it is always good practice to blow the powder out of the hole after drilling as it is always essential to securing every anchor. Nothing worse than when a anchor has been placed and then does not grip due to grinding when the screw is turned in. At least I have been praticing this for decades and found it improves my success when mounting objects.

I can't believe hardly any of these videos on concrete screws doesn't mention the drill bit creating the pilot hole has to be a size smaller than the screw. If you use a 1/4" drill bit with a 1/4" screw, it ends of being loose. If you use a 5/16 screw, you need to use a 1/4 concrete drill bit.

A quick question whilst I'm here, I drilled 4 holes into an internal solid wall for shelf brackets, but the holes are a bit off even though I marked it correctly. I now need to drill another 4 holes slightly higher and to the left. How far apart do the holes need to be from the first set of holes to avoid weakening the new drilled holes? Also, any advice for drilling holes accurately without the drill bit wondering off? I'm thinking off using a much smaller drill bit first and then working my way upto the 8mm bit that I need. Thank you kindly.

Smaller drill should do the trick! It stops it from wandering.
