My junior high school son is on a constant diet of modern action-packed superhero movies. I rent an old one once in awhile and force my kids to watch it with me. They dread when I do this until about 5 minutes in. It only takes about 5 minutes in and they're hooked. afterwards they shake their head and say something like, 'wow, it's amazing how such a quiet movie could be so exciting ' The young little Frank was so cute and my kids loved him.Lol

This movie was a Top 100 IMDB film for a long time on IMDBs Top 250 list but now has been bumped to the 101st spot as of this writing. Nevertheless, this is a film you must see if you haven’t seen it. The acting is top level, it’s a well written film and it’s a movie that will challenge your intellect. I watched this film on DVD in the mid 2000s damn near 10 years after it was released and was shocked how great it was.

I saw it when it first came out on VHS. Being an indy film I was not too sure about it when I rented it. Wow, was I in for a surprise. My wife and I were drawn into that film and the intensity of the acting. What an amazing and famously surprising movie.

Sling Blade could have been written by Faulkner or O'Connor. An incredible film.

I really like the insight on the Faulkner reference.

I like the way he used master shots. The scenes are way more intense w/o all the cutting back and forth for every line.

Hobos used to refer to the rats that inhabited freight train stations as "track rabbits." Not exactly a delicacy, but there were always plenty to go around.
