“PIPPIN: I didn't think it would end this way. GANDALF: End? No, the journey doesn't end here. Death is just another path, one that we all must take. The grey rain-curtain of this world rolls back, and all turns to silver glass, and then you see it. PIPPIN: What? Gandalf? See what? GANDALF: White shores, and beyond, a far green country under a swift sunrise. PIPPIN: Well, that isn't so bad. GANDALF: No. No, it isn't.”

“Bilbo knelt on one knee filled with sorrow. ‘Farewell, King under the Mountain.’ he said. ‘This is a bitter adventure, if it must end so; and not a mountain of gold can amend it. Yet I am glad that I have shared in your perils-that has been more than any Baggins deserves.’ ‘No!’ said Thorin. ‘There is more in you of good than you know, child of the kindly West. Some courage and some wisdom, blended in measure. If more of us valued food and cheer and song above hoarded gold, it would be a merrier world. But sad or merry, I must leave it now. Farewell.’” (The Hobbit, 272-273).

It is honestly too bad they did not use more of Tolkein's dialogue in the film. You can tell at first listen what the script writers cobbled together and the art that Tolkein put on paper. The difference in writing quality is striking.

This song really is the last goodbye. It's like everyone who ever worked on the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films or was involved, Peter, the actors, everyone. It's like they and all the movies themselves are saying goodbye. Saying goodbye for the last time. It's amazing, what movies and books can do for people. It can give them something to believe in, something to thrive on and something to enjoy. Peter Jackson and everyone who worked on the films have given the world something that can never be replaced. This song is the last goodbye, the final message that they will leave us with. The end of the journey that we started on all those years ago. They bid us all a VERY fond farewell. And we thank them will all our hearts. For everything.

I still remember the projection of The Battle Of The Five Arms, it was 2014. I was in cinema with my daughter, she was 16 and we shared the passion for LOTR movies (and soundtrack) since the first one. We were sitting there, in the dark, watching the closing titles of the movie, knowing it's really the end and knowing that there will not be anything following. My daughter grew up with Jackson's trilogy and it has changed her in many different ways, making her better person for sure... I have tears in my eyes everytime I hear this song...after The Lord Of The Ring and The Hobbit nothing from cinema industry moves me anymore...
@asherpikesgoldenmoralcinem57703 жыл бұрын
@@adas.7011 for real, these films are so grand, impacting on ones life. Sometimes even relatable. I’ve been changed by these movies. Inspired actually, I know you said nothing else moves you anymore compared to these films, I hope there may be something else that will. For 10 years (not joking) me and my team inspired by all the greatest stories have been making and planning a fantasy SAGA. The very first feature length film has been completed and is coming out this Christmas to KZbin. You can see the trailer if you want on my channel. For it I have created a new visual genre so it’s a new experience for everyone. Full of emotion, loss, hope and just tremendously motivational, a great passion project of 10 years. I hope that you are impacted by it :) The Kings World: Duel of Shades is its name.

I got so emotional watching this at the end of Botfa in the theatres. I grew up with lotr; I watched the first one when I was 6 or 7 and when it ended, I immediately asked where the "next" one was. I asked my mom to do my hair like Legolas for picture day in grade 2 (and she did!). It was really amazing to be in that theatre seeing the credits, knowing it was really goodbye from this cast and crew. I know there will be remakes in the future, but I don't know if any version can match the sheer magic this one held and it will always hold a place in my heart

I sobbed watching it, then I died reading it. It just broke me when I imagined this hobbit kneeling besides a dwarf that had in the beginning had no faith in him. He finally proved himself to Thorin, that’s all he wanted, approval from this thick headed dwarf. He got it eventually through several acts of bravery, while still being flawed. Then he watched as the dwarf he had tried so hard to please fell into sickness, dragging his kin with him. Bilbo watched his family gradually become obsessed with treasure, break apart, become toxic and then practically stop caring for him; putting the gold in front of his health. When all was finished he had lost his leader, friend, companion, his brother. He had to travel home alone this time knowing that if he sees the company again, there will be holes. He travels alone knowing the dwarves now have a home and he does not anymore. His home was with Thorin and his company, not Baggend.

These are the lyrics as far as i could tell, wasn't sure about some parts though. Thumbs up so everyone can see. ^^ I saw the light fade from the sky. On the wind I a sigh. As the snowflakes cover my fallen brothers, I will say this last goodbye. Night is now falling so ends this day. The road is now calling and i must away. Over hill and under tree, through lands where never light has shone. By silver streams that run down to the sea. Under cloud, beneath the stars, over snow and winter's mourn. I turn at last to paths that lead home. And though where the road then takes me, i cannot tell. We came all this way but now comes a day to bid you farewell. Many places i have been, many sorrows i have seen. But i don't regret nor will i forget, all who took that road with me. Night is now falling, so ends this day, The road is now calling and i must away. Over hill and under tree, through lands where never light has shone. By silver streams that run down to the sea. To these memories i will hold, with your blessing i will go. To turn at last to paths that lead home. And though where the road then takes me, i cannot tell. We came all this way, but now comes a day, to bid you farewell. I bid you all a very fond farewell.

It's hard to believe that the journey is coming to an end.. until someone decides to create a remake in the next 100 years or so. Personally, I felt like the Tauriel-Kili romance was pushing it waaay too far. I mean, I can deal with how Smaug was shot down, although it was (in my opinion) over-dramatized, but adding a new character for a relationship that never existed in the books? I felt that the power in the LotR trilogy came from Jackson's dedication to Tolkien's writing, and the Hobbit lost impact for the lack of such attention to detail. It was still a fun movie, but not what I hoped for out of The Hobbit. TL;DR - disagreed with the romantic subplot and over-dramatizing of many other things, but still thought the movie was ok!

ghgdh ghdhd if you watch the behind the scenes for the Hobbit movies, you'll see that all of the Middle Earth movies were shot entirely on location in New Zealand. Yes there still a fair amount of CGI, but as far as the landscape and the wide panning shots and whatnot are very real. In one of the behind the scenes, the actor that played Dwalin, I think, took a picture of where they were shooting and sent it to some of his friends and they wouldn't believe him. Admittedly, I've never been to New Zealand, so I can't verify what they're saying, but I do know that there is some beautiful country down there.

I saw the light fade from the sky On the wind I heard a sigh As the snowflakes cover my fallen brothers I will say this last goodbye Night is now falling So ends this day The road is now calling and I must away Over hill and under tree Through lands where never light has shone By silver streams that run down to the Sea Under cloud, beneath the stars Over snow and winter's morn I turn at last to paths that lead home And though where the road then takes me I cannot tell We came all this way But now comes the day To bid you farewell Many places I have been Many sorrows I have seen But I don't regret Nor will I forget All who took that road with me Night is now falling So ends this day The road is now calling And I must away Over hill and under tree Through lands where never light has shone By silver streams that run down to the Sea To these memories I will hold With your blessing I will go To turn at last to paths that lead home And though where the road then takes me I cannot tell We came all this way But now comes the day To bid you farewell I bid you all a very fond farewell.

One of my best friends used to watch the LOTR movies with her father, and has been going to see them on premier night ever since. A short time ago, she lost her father but around that same time, our paths crossed and we were brought together to build a very tight bond. I know that I am not, nor ever will be a replacement for her Dad, but I will gladly hold her hand to walk with her down whatever path that fate will reveal. We are going to see this movie on opening night, but it's much more than a trip to the cinema for us, it's a rite of passage, time spent with those whom we love, sharing emotions and feelings that cannot be put into words. #OneLastTime

This movie is going to hurt. The 13 year journey has been amazing, but as all adventures do, it must end as well. I won't be walking out of a cinema I will be walking out of a lake. I watch this song whenever I'm on the internet. Thank you Billy this song sums up the Middle Earth adventure so well. Why does it have to end. I will treasure these movies forever. I guess this is The Last Goodbye so Goodbye Peter Jackson Goodbye, Middle Earth :(

I truly enjoyed the Hobbit!!!! I cried a river in the cinemas. I can say I enjoyed it more than LOTR. The adventure of dwarves to reclaim their homeland and the bond they have got into me. And when the three Durin sons died, I mean seeing the company kneel and grieve at thorin's body!:((((( Dwalin and Bilbo seeing Fili killed :((((( Just... I FREAKINNN LOVE THE COMPANY OF THORIN OAKENSHIELD!!!! :((((
@mowesrik9 жыл бұрын
I know how you feel. I watched TBOTFA today and when Thorin died I can't stop crying and I think the people behind me must think im mad because I whispered: No Thorin you can't die now. No!" ever and ever again. Im actually crying and thinking about the three. Oh Peter what have you done to me?! :'( :'( :'(
@eldereagle24959 жыл бұрын
I know what you mean. first Tauriël holding Kili made it hard for me to hold myself from letting tears, but then seeing the company kneel down and grieve over Thorin's body made me feel like the tears would flow out any moment. It was like i could feel their sorrow and sadness as if i was there myself kneeling by his body. I actually saw the movie again 24 hours after i had seen it with my friends (my brother was going to watch it with a friend of his, and i got the opportunity to go with them and watch a second time :)) and the feeling was just as strong as the first time. Chills everytime. I'm so thankful for LOTR and The Hobbit to exist, They make life a happier place.

This song brings the nostalgia of when quarantine just started. One week left of school, sitting on my couch downstairs and a warm spring breeze blowing in the window as I sat back, turned in my last assignment, and listened to this song on repeat while waiting for friends to come knocking and more songs to come through the Chorus google classroom. Best feeling ever.
